Mookeeh Mk1 Suspension?
 

So I was doing a search for a front pair of stock struts to cannibalize and paint for cheap for a set of bilstein inserts I was going to use, when I stumbled upon a setup of struts and shocks by a brand I've never really heard of.

Apparently they are 1.5" shorter stroke and 20%-30% stiffer then OEM. Has anyone heard of Mookeeh Mk1 parts?

I am just curious, I am in no way planning on buying these, because I've decided on Bilstein.

i had some of there products, was NOT happy at all, was missing pieces.
and seemed very cheaply made.

hello, sorry to hear you are having a trouble with the parts. I know exactly what you are saying as we have tried to install coilover sleeves on the shock as well. We were not able to for same reason, top silver lid being too big. That is why we added in the auction description "does not fit adjustable suspension".

We ended up popping that out by using a flat screw driver and hammering it out. It was pretty easy, just a few hit and popped right off. But the question is "is it safe to remove the top lids?". Sorry we are not sure.

Please check with a professional shop and decide.

^ thats from mookeeh when i asked how to install their coilover sleeves on their shocks. i did it. and i took it for a ride its decent i mean its no buddy club or jic but for a standard suspension model with 150k its a decent upgrade.

i have the dookie coilovers and front shocks and pillowball mounts. what was i thinking right? well their better than stock but if you dont have a press your kinda screwed for install.

their coilovers arent bad. its not good, but its not bad really. to install the rear coilovers on the stock shocks you have to drill through the stock mounts and screw or bolt them together so they dont move when the car hops which it will, remember the pressure of the springs held all that together on the stock setup. dont use the top hats that come with for the rear just let the springs sit where the stock springs sit unless you get the rear pillowball mount which is a ungodly ammount of $.

but yeah. i wont reccomend them unless you already have their cheap ground controll coilovers already installed on your stock shocks in which case check your shocks because their probably leaking by now. u cant use these with stock springs either unless you cut them down and you cant install them without removing the silver top covers and use a shop press to press the sleeves onto the shocks.

so basically if you still want them by the time your done reading this, your either really cheap or as stupid as me and just enjoy pain and suffering induced by cheap aftermarket

all shocks are not made equally. buy real shocks.

^^^^ and on that note. what the hell is the deal with that statement anyway? does not fit adjustable suspension, ok well i think the stock adjustable suspension not THEIR coilovers. might as well come out and say yea you cant use this with our other product we used to sell but now mysteriously dont. they should just say to you if you want to use these cut down your springs and you cant use the other products we sell with them. their kinda weird about returns too. but i went this far so might as well just get the damn rears too...

I'm bumping this thread because I'm in the same place with the same intentions as the PO: I came across these while looking for a good set of front strut housings to gut for my Bilstein inserts. I would think that these were made from OEM strut housings, is this the case or do they make their own housings from inferior materials or processes? These are the cheapest option I've found for a set of good housings and the fact that they're new is even better. Can anyone tell me about these before I buy them?

FWIW, I purchased used KYB AGX fronts, new rears with Racing Beat springs for $400 shipped.

Plus, why cheap on out a part that's essential to your safetly?

i am running with the mookeehs , yes the metal cap is a little large and i had to very slightly shave the inner of the lowest ring of my eibach springs to fit over

they work just fine though .. i would think they are OEM for another car re-purposed to suit
( shaft is thicker, strut is shorter )

as for buying quality.. well my ohlins ( adjustable rate ) took a dump
and rebuilding them is more expensive and just as risky than these

I ran mookeeh's for about a year and to me they are great! I had cut springs and the shorter strut worked perfectly with my springs. I'd recommend that setup as the cheapest option.

For the guys running these shocks: what's the deal with this pinched spring seat? I'm cutting these open to put Bilstein inserts in them and Ground Control coilovers on them but this spring seat doesn't look right. Am I gonna have to cut them off and weld new ones on?

thats the shape it should be to prevent spring rotation when barely captive

if you are adding coil overs then you are cutting that perch off anyway? so i dont see your problem

The GC kit is an Eibach spring that sits on a adjustable sleeve. That sleeve needs to sit on something, which would be the stock spring perch. However, when I called Ground Control to see what the deal was we discovered that I got the wrong parts sent to me. I told them I was using Bilstein inserts but they sent me a kit for the old Bilstein struts that were discontinued years ago. I guess that was my mistake for not clarifying. I sent them pictures of what I have, just waiting for them to tell me where I need to go from here.

I'm currently running there camber plates and they rattle too much as the spherical bearing retaining screw ring never holds it down tight enough even when torqued down properly. Planning on running the GC camber and castor plates sometime soon after my 2nd rebuild!

I've been running their camber plates on my koni/gc set up for 3 years. No problems yet. I track the car at willow springs 6-8 times per year. I however would not use their shocks or spring set up. Lol.

i have their upper top front camber plates and they seem to do pretty well with my kyb agx/ground control coilover setup (fs btw)

Any updates on these lately? Have they gotten any better over the years? Who's using the shocks and struts?
