Modifications for 300rwhp

I have an 87 NA vert. I have transplanted a S5 13bt motor & drive train.

Currently it's pretty stock - and I want to avoid opening the engine and doing any dowling/porting for now for $$ reasons.

To date I have done the following:
- Racing Beat 2.5" downpipe & straight cat
- custom 2.5" to 2x2.25" Y-pipe with straight mufflers
- pod air filter
- bleed valve set to 12psi
- stock fuel pump to 1l surge tank & Bosch 600hp pump
- flushed radiator & replaced thermostat
- large thermo fan

I am still running the stock Mazda computer, but I have by-passed the fuel cut (dodgy! ;-)

I want to work out an appropriate staged plan to achieve 300rwhp.

Here are my thoughts:
- engine management (Microtech LTX-8, new coils)
- new plug leads (Magnacor?)
- injectors (will 1000cc secondaries do?)
- fuel reg (Malpassi/sard?)
- FMIC
- hi-flowed stock turbo

What do you guys think? I have been told from various sources that this should produce around 300hp safely.

I would welcome any suggestions or comments. I am particularly interested in comments whether this is safe for an engine with stock internals and whether there is anything I have missed or should do differently.

Thanks

That'll work.

Thanks Ted.

Any suggestions as to what else to do? Can I go any further without opening the engine?

How much boost can I run without causing problems?

cheers

how much HP does a FMIC open up?

Watch me dyno over 300 without a FMIC or standalone....

You'll be generating an awful amount of heat with the stock top-mount core. Be prepared.

Yes, I am aware of that.

*edit*

Arent you the one that made some ungodly HP #s on a stock TMIC?

those modifications are good

Stock tmic core was used in a custom air/water IC.

I dynoed 290rwhp on stock TMIC... gonna shoot for 300 as soon as I get the EBC in. :p: I'm gonna do FMIC eventually though... and shoot for more power :D

Yeah, I spoke with BDC online and he gave me the specs on the IC. Very cool.. I am thinking of making one.

I put down quite a bit on the stock tmic......
298whp to be exact.... I think it had a bit more in her too

Im going for over 350whp after i GET a frontmount and some more fuel..

wont be long and ill have some numbers to toss around too.. yay for me. :D

Ok I've decided to go with the stock turbo for now. I will install a Microtech ems, run larger secondaries & a malpassi. With a front mount, that should put me at around 275rwhp.

Then I will go for a T04/66 and hopefully put it around 350rwhp with a decent amount of boost. I would be more than happy with this if I can manage it.

If and when she blows, which I'm hoping wont be too soon I will then worry about rebuilding, dowelling and all that shit.. but honestly from the research I've done to date, I dont think it will be necessary for that amount of power.

What type of plugs & leads do you guys recommend. I guess the largest leads are the go. Do NGK BRP 9 plugs sound good?
