It is missing an apex seal, but the turbo isn't damaged?

It is really cold outside and I'm slowly getting my newly acquired blown s4 TII block ready for disassembly.
I hand cranked the engine and looked through the leading spark plug hole to inspect the rotors.
The front one looks like it is in great shape; just flooded.
The rear looked good, until I got to the third apex seal that wasn't there...
However, the turbo looked fine whenever I inspected it so I'm not really for sure what to expect on the rear rotor and rotor housing.

Just curious, should I go ahead and assume I'm going to be replacing the rotor/rotor housing?
And, correct me (as I'm probably wrong) but I thought that if a rotor lost an apex seal that it would show some damage on the turbo?

That all depends on how you inspected the turbo. Did you actually remove the turbine housing and inspect all the blades, or did you just look at it from the back?

Full inspection, turbo doesn't look like it had a bowel movement at all... Looks to be in good shape for 70k miles.
Now for another question, I was playing around with the rear rotor again and it looks like there is metal in the third apex seal's slot...
Now of course I'm hopeful and I went and dumped MMO in it... on the off chance that from where it sat for 12 years it is just being held down with carbon...
It is most likely just the apex seal spring right?

if the apex seal is missing, it would definitely damage the turbo.
the seal is probably just stuck from sitting. Looking through the exhaust port, you can tell if the seal is missing or not, there will be a empty slot.

Lol, I looked through and I there is something there but after it sat over night with some MMO it sort of looks like the rotor has detonation damage on the apex seal gap; which would pinch it down in there...
I'm tearing it down and rebuilding it regardless. Its just I've got to wait until Friday to get out of my hatch and take it apart.... but I'm not very good at waiting.
