misfireing system

since i got my rx7 i noticed it misfires quite a lot, i have heard about a misfireing system but not sure if my car will pass smog after instaling one, or if its even a good idea, now again i heard this from a friend, and i trully dont know if that system even exists. does anybody know about this???

Someone is watching too much Initial D

Wasted Spark is already in place on a FC.

And if you are getting what you think is a misfire/back fire in the exhaust at the exhaust manifold and cats, you are running too rich or have a problem with your air pump or ACV.

ok so im guessing the whole misfire system does not exist, ok well when the car supposively misfires i hear a little smooth pop in the exhaust tips , any idea?

eage8 06-05-06 03:40 PM

the pop is the extra fuel that is unburned igniting at the end if your exhaust when it hits fresh air with lots of oxygen.

if you still have a cat you might be able to pass emissions, if you don't, I would suggest leaning it out a little somehow (fuel controller?), or/and searching for vacumm leaks in your engine bay.

"Misfiring System" does exist. They are known as "Anti-Lag Systems" in real life. Some still call it "Misfiring" but not a lot. They are mostly used in the Rally, but is slowly catching on by the Japanese GT Championship (JGTC) in order to eliminate lag from turbos.

yeah, basically you put a spark plug in front of the turbo so it ignites extra fuel and spins the turbo really fast. but this also decreases the life of the turbo a lot, and not really good to have on a daily driver.

Actually,

Anti-Lag is a function supported by many aftermarket ECUs including the Haltech. All it does is change the timing radically, and dump fuel, so the combustion explosions happen in the turbo manifold. Its very harmful to the Turbo.

Sato 06-05-06 06:54 PM

Yes, it is highly recommended NOT to have an Anti-Lag system on you car. Unless you are in a professional race, and your races are sponsored by companies then it will be fine, otherwise it will just be a waste of money to just try and maintain and buy new turbos to be fitted on your car.

hey guys, I have a similar popping sound coming from my car. It passed emissions but the popping sound is kinda bothering me. It is a serious problem or something i can leave for the time being?

CrypticApathy 06-05-06 09:29 PM

the poping sound is just backfireing, these cars do it alot if you are running a open exhaust. You will also shoot fire out the back on a regular basis.

Apathy 06-05-06 09:44 PM

Hello guys... I have this popping sound coming from my behind... It has been there ever since I came from out of prison. Please explain. j/k... lol.
