Mindtrain Headers???

I saw the mindtrain headers somewhere & noticed they have all different types (race, road race, ect, ect, ect.). Does anyone know the extent of the differences? Good and bad points? Anyone have any Mindtrain headers? Opinions? Thanks.

I have the MindTrain Race header with the header adaptors.

I talked with the owner a lot before I purchased them. Hes very nice and will tell you anything you want to know.

Basically there are 2 header the street and the race. The street header is meant to be used with a cat behind it you can buy there high flow cat and the extension pipe that connects the header to the cat. Or you can get a silencer instead of the extension pipe that goes in between the header and the cat.

If you want to go with no cats you get the race header which is a hare shorter then the street header the race header needs the race header adaptor which is a dual chambered exhaust system with 4 silencers 2 side by side like this == this goes all the way back to what ever "cat back" system you are going to run.

Over all this is hands down the best built system I have seen for an exhaust the quality of materials and craftsmanship in them is top notch. Once I got them I knew I had got my money's worth.

I put an ApexiN1 after the adaptor and with the chambered set up its still very quite even with the headers and the N1 you can go to my site and see pics and hear audio of this set up. feel free to email me also macimusprime@mac.com

Where can you purchase the MindTrain Header?

FEDREX 09-20-01 05:30 PM

I tried finding the number for you but it's in my other organizer which I can't find right now. (you know how it is when you move)

I had the Mindtrain header and hi-flo cat on a '91 N/A b4 I got my T2 and the cat burned out. It may have been that I hit a speedbump with it too, though.

They're in Beverly Hills and the guy that usually helps you is Fred.

I still have stuff misplaced from when I moved and it was almost 3 months ago

Thanks for the info!

HEY! That's the EXACT same combo I'm gonna run! I'm actually gonna buy it all this weekend! Yankin' all my cats *at least one of them is clogged anyways* and setting up a Mindtrain racing header, and the Apexi N1 single. Thing is, I was unaware of the dual silencer system. I just thought that I would need just one presilencer.... and that quad-silencer looks a little restrictive considering it goes from one, to split, then back to one... that doesn't please me. I'll talk with Jason some more I guess before I set it all up. But all in all, that's cool that you and I are running the same thing. :)

Believe me its not restictive at all they are 2.5" and there only silencers I inspected them very well before I put them on and theres nothing but open space inside I shined a light down inside and could not see any screen or mesh in side just thick walls.

Actually Id be suprised if its not more flow than a single since you are opening up 2.5" id on both sides then takening it even further to 3 with the N1.

Just a stab who knows all I know is I love it. Its power is immediately noticeable and theres even a easy no-nonsense fix for the 6 port actuation that works like a charm! Just remember to close the bleeder bolt down when you first go our after install. I didnt and was freakin out cause when I got to 3500 RPM i was loosing power then I remembered the bleeder screw. I tightened it down got back in and TOOK OFF WHAAAHOOO :-)

Oh one other thing when you get the mindtrain stuff for some reason I dont know why but the header adaptor was coated with high temp paint and has lasted like a charm. But the header was, not again I dont know why but Fred does give you 2 cans of the hi temp paint for the headers. Now I was way to excited and put the headers on as is and now Im wishing I took the paint that was on the headers off then (which has now since burned off) and painted them with the paint he gave me. So take the time to remove the paint on the headers and pain them with the stuff he gives you.

Also use the gaskets you get from Mindtrain theres enough for the whole setup with the N1 they are the real nice metallic gaskets.

Anyone know how Mindtrains compare to Racing beat? Thanks.

FEDREX 09-22-01 10:34 PM

I forgot about having to remove the coating on the header. That's right, I took mine to a shop that does sandblasting and they shot it for about 10 bucks. I then sprayed it with a hi-temp paint. Can't remember if Fred had sent me a can or if I had to go buy it.

When I installed the header and hi-flo cat there was a definite seat of the pants difference. Then you adjust to that and want more, hence me owning a TII.

One day I was rounding my favorite on-ramp to another fwy and there was a TII behind me. I knew this corner and was pushing well out of the apex...or so I thought. As soon as he had room this TII slingshots out to my left effortlessy passing me on the outside.

About a month later I found a white '90 TII, black leather, with 42K. I spend way too much time in this car...

okay, well first off, I'm not getting my header directly from Mind Trian. I'm getting it from Jason, the guy that owns this site, and rx7store.net So, I don't think i'm gonna be supplied with any sort of paint, but that's not my whole purpose here. What I wanted to know is why are you painting it? Isn't it just fine keeping it the normal metal color? Or do most people paint their headers? And what color are you painting it? I've never heard of painting headers.. Seems kinda pointless to me really, if the only reason is for looks... Kinda like painting your exhaust... What for, ya know? Explain yourself! :) I want to be enlightened.

Painting it not for looks but for added protection thats all. After a few months of mine theres surface rust all over and the paint just keeps that away thats all.
