Mike's Express Carwash?

Alright, I'm thinking about over the winter, when the RX7 gets dirty, why not take it through Mike's Express Carwash? Then it came to me. Would it be safe to take a TII through an express carwash? I mean, with the engine going, the intercooler would be sucking in air, and the rinsing would wash wax, soap, and other stuff into the intercooler through the scoop? Does anybody take their TII through Mike's Carwash, or am I just a paranoid idiot? Thanks.

Michael

who is mike? and the innercooler doesn't suck in air, the intake sucks air in through the filter. Air goes across the innercooler to cool off the air coming from the turbo because the turbo compresses air and compressed air gets hot. Cold intake air is better. The innercooler doesn't have any openings for water to get inside the intake and go to the engine.

Dude you do realize that the intercooler has no intake for air that it is simply a cooling system for incomming air. It has a series of tiny fins inside of it that allow air to flow over them to cool the intake air. Your airbox is the only place where air is actually sucked in and that is under the hood.
If the intercooler was designed like that then our cars would not be able to be run in the rain!
You can take your car through that car wash dont worry

Do it.

I take my 10 AE through car washes fairly frequently, if you don't wanna stand out in the cold and wash it yourself then by all means, has yet to hurt my car.

I wouldnt bring my car to a drive through car wash since the water is often recycled and alot of debris (rocks and other crap) can get stuck on the washing arms and damage you paint job or even dent your car. Just wash your car by hand.

I would do it more often but mine seems to rub on the tire pulling track and the vert leaked badly till I replaced the top last week so I have not tried again, only Leo's hand car wash. But I do hose it off to get the bugs off :)
