Mid rpm hesitation please help!
 

ok so i have a 97' turboII motor is completly stock. around 4-5k rpm's it almost seems like im running out of gas. ill get to 4000ish and itll just act like im not touching the accelerator at all then all the sudden kicks back in and goes normal ... YET if im absolutly poundin gear and to the floor , it goes through 4-5k no problem. any idea? my secondarys arent a goin bad ? maybe bad ground ? fuel pump ? (idk if it does it in 4th and 5th , havent had the road to test it) maybe after work today ill try to get a video and post it so u can see what its doing ...(VERY NOTICABLE) thanks guys

i do appreciate it but unfortunally that thread has to do with some guy that has a complely jerry rigged car that is running a car on a stock injected car .... yet someone did mention some 3800 rpm fuel cut ... i dont know if that could be my problem tho because mine generally happens at 4k ... but sometimes at 5 .. any suggestions?

WTFF 87' fc .... 97 was a typo

check your coils. usually, the leading coil will start to go out when it does this. use a timing light to see if it is sparking through the wire. if not, then check it with the wire off. if it sparks then, replace your wires.

This just sounds like typical 3800 RPM hesitation. It's in the FAQ. Some people (such as HAILERS) have solved this by re-grounding the ECU. There are a number of ground wires at the ECU that can be spliced and grounded to one of the nearby points on the chassis. I used to have a little bit of the hesitation when my car was NA, but when I converted to turbo it all went away. My grounds didn't change, but my ECU and all sensors did.

There's a link in that thread and a bunch more that talk about the common 3800rpm hesitation. I would definitely start with those fixes (primarily ECU grounds) and go from there.

when i click that link on that thread a new oage aprears with this message "Sorry. It looks like you're trying to find one of our free member websites. There isn't a web page at the address you typed (or it may be temporarily unavailable)." lol so doesnt do me much good but i do apreciate the feed back and if you think that is my issue i deff. plan on looking into it and re-grounding... within the next couple month i will be gettin a rtek 2.1 so should be fixed period

To quickly see if it's a grounding issue one thing you could do is to pick one of the following sensors and add an additional ground. TPS, Boost Sensor, AFM, Atmospheric Pressure Sensor or Variable Resistor.
