Mechanical speedo to electric!!!?

I need some rotary expert assistance!

I have a '79 SA with a S5 TII swap and microtech lt-10. I've been using (or attempting to use) the fc dash but I'd like to install a dakota digital speedometer/tachometer unit. The problem I've run into is that the TII speedo is cable driven.

Is it possible to use a FD vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on my transmission? Or is there another mechanical to electric converter I can use? Dakota Digital offers lovely converters for Ford, GM and Chrysler but not Mazda...

Thanks for the reply!

I did read through that thread, but its not too specific. The hal effect driveshaft sensor scares me (ocd about driveshaft balancing for no logical reason lol). I've opened up the S5 dash pulled the speedo and found the speed output. Tested with a drill and my multimeter and it should work. What ill do is remove the odometer and trip odometer bits and mount my new cable to electric speedo converter behind my new cluster :) fingers crossed!
