Mazda RX7 FC Brakes conversion on a 323F
 
Hi guys im currently undergoing an engine swap on my mazda 323 and thought that it be great to use some FC brake calipers on my 323F 96.

i first saw the idea on Drift kings AE86 trueno using FC brake calipers which was fanstatic.

what i want to know is which FC calipers should i be using? and is there a difference between the series 4 and series 5 FC brakes??

i did realise that there was a 4 lug bolt pattern FC and a 5 lug bolt pattern, so are the discs a different size between the both of them and are the calipers different between them at all???

if possible i would be really grateful if anyone has information or can give me a link to showing me the sizes of the discs that would be great.

Or maybe somebody with an FC with 4 lug bolt pattern can give me their reg number so i can go to mazda dealer and get the info there.

What i want to know are the specs n sizes of the 4 lug bolt pattern discs so i can get another disc with similar size but using 4X100 pattern same as my car. also if anybody knows what else i need in order to complete this swap please let me know.


here are the 5 lug bolt pattern disc specs:


Vented Discs.
Bolt Holes = 5
Diameter = 276mm
Height = 65mm
Thickness (New/Min) = 22 / 20mm

You should be trying to use the rotors and calipers from the GXL, GTU, TII, or whatever these models are called in your area. 4 piston calipers, big 5 lug rotors.

Why do you want 4 lug stuff?

The 4 lug rotors won't fit the 4 piston calipers properly.

Just redrill the 5 lug rotor to match your car.

thanks for the quick reply mate. u know what iv never thought about re-drilling the rotors before and is this option even safe?

why wont the 4 lug rotors fit calipers properly? does this mean that the calipers from both models are slightly different from each other?

The 5 lug rotors have a large diameter then the 4 lug, so the caliper is designed to fit a rotor with a larger circumference. If you use the 4 piston caliper with the 4 lug rotor, most of the pad area will be unused.

oic...hmmm in that case then there definitely is a difference between the 2 calipers from the 4 lug and the 5 lug. great info aaron cake. so are the rotors and the calipers the only thing i need in order to complete this conversion??

what about the centre hole of the disc? any ideas what size that is?

I really don't know anything about you car so I can't say what is required. I assumed you knew and just needed some info on the calipers/rotors.

The hole in the middle is about 77.5MM.
