Manual window help.
I was wondering if anybody knows how to fix a loose driver side window. It will rock left and right with little effort, and bind up when I roll it up unless I help.
I took the panel off and saw that it seems to wiggle on the center track of the regulator. Do I need to replace the window regulator to fix it? |
there are 2 10mm bolts that go through the glass and hold the window onto the sliding mechanism.
Those bolts are held onto the mechanism with some plastic clips and are needed to properly secure the glass to the slider. The glass itself slides in a track within the door.(bolted in track) so if by some chance the glass is not in the track it will either bind or rattle..But in my experience with both electrical and manual set ups it is really hard to get the window to operate at all if you have the window off that track. Look at the parts manual and see the parts involved for the door/window.. The regulator as you call it is only bolted on the door with 4 (or 5) bolts (10mm) very easy to get at. |

The parts I refer to go on the steel "shelf" that the glass actually sits on.
The plastic pieces are wedged in the holes of the glass and clip under the glass. Then the bolt goes in those pieces. They hold the glass to the "shelf" of the window regulator. Ya..pics will help..I've done this window shit a lot..haha!..and I HATE that black goo on the plastic sheets...Who the frak thought of that crap! |

I feel you on the black goo crap, plus you need to remove the door handle to take it off fully. And that means I risk losing screws. |
You got MANUAL cranks..right?
EASY REMOVAL OF MANUAL CRANK. slide a strip of cloth between the door card and the crank..shape it like a V..with the crank in the middle..one hand on each part of the length of the cloth.. Picture a cloth between the hands: :icon_tup: ----------- :icon_tup: Slowly pull it around the crank and it will catch the security clip that holds the crank to the regulator shaft. Pull the crank off.. BEER Break~! |

Pull the crank off.. BEER Break~! I have two of the tools that you use to remove the cranks. Right now I am short on time, I have to study today for a test tomorrow. Hopefully I will have time/ good weather tomorrow. I had panels off before this post, but I put them back on since I didnt know when I would get to them again. |
