Making it louder
I have some lovely neighbors that are in dire need of hearing my car...more. I love the way my engine sounds but I want to make it louder with out putting fart cannons on it. I don't want to take the mufflers off and I dont want people in my car to cover their ears while I'm idleing. My stereo is already blown so I need something to listen to. I'm kinda on a budget and trying to come up w/ a cheap way to make it louder.
My friend and I were talking about this and too make his T/A louder he drilled holes in the mufflers. Don't know if that would work to well on mine, if anyone has any other ideas let me know. Yes, I searched, all I could find were threads on how everyone's exhaust is loud as hell. |
Wow, what a crappy ricer way to make your car louder (drilling holes in the muffler). That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Making your car louder just for the sake of being loud is retarded. Now making your exhaust very free-flowing and performance oriented is fine, and loudness comes with this, you can't get around it. But the way you're talking you just want it to be loud for the "cool" factor. Why not just do it properly and get a good aftermarket free-flowing exhaust system that will perform well? You'll get it louder that way and be happy in both performance and "omg my car is teh loudness" aspects...

you could take off one of the precats, or put it on straight pipes, even though that would be illegal and dangerous. just get rid if the cats and put a nice quality resonator in thier

How is putting in straight pipes dangerous? Sure it is illegal emissions-wise, and probably sound ordinances, but dangerous? How so? I have a header to 2.5" pipe back to dual straight through shit mufflers that hardly muffle. It's loud as crap but how is it dangerous?

Do this as your money allows....... use 2.5 inch piping with a (or a couple if staying duel exhaust) muffler known for being loud such as the Apex N1 or RS*R GT II. Coustom piping from the header back shouldn't run you too much. Also get rid of the three stock cats and get one single hi-flow. My friend just did this on his 90 RX-7 GXL and it got much louder (still tolerable while in the car). If you can afford it get a aftermarket header. www. horsepowerfreaks.com sells one for about $198.

So what if they are doing that? You will get in more trouble by doing the gay-ricer thing. Seriously man for shit sakes.

I would say lose your cat an replace it with a pre silencer and 2 imitation apexi n1's (40-50) on ebay, th whole deal should run u under a hundred with welding.
|
save your money and go let the air out of their tires instead (free), it sounds like you're just looking for revenge. then when you get some money saved up, get a new exhaust system.
|
Go open downpipe. Can't get much louder than that.

I got my Mufflers removed and 2.5 pipes put in for 95.00 +tax and my main cat is already gone. It has a very nice note to it at all rpm's and received a very nice power gain. Not too loud at idle but it has a very nice presence any other time. Also you dont have the problem of tailgaters on the freeway or at stop lights...:)

Does anyone have a video or sound clip of a Turbo II with a single or double Apexi exhaust (N1 or GT)?
I want to hear what they sound like. With the silencers in too... |
