Lsd Swap Help!?

So today i tried to swap my open diff for a S4 lsd in my 87 fc. needless to say it didnt work out very well haha. call me an idiot but its my first rx7 and i couldnt seem to get the stock open diff out. heres what i did.

i unbolted the axels, the bolts where the driveline connects to the diff, the mount in front of that, and the two arms with the bushings more towards the rear bumper.

i started to unbolt the sub frame but it got dark and dropped to about 26 degrees so im here now.

i need to know how to get the whole diff and housing out the easiest. do i have to take off the sub frame? drop the exhaust? let me know..

i made a detailed thread on dropping the subframe...check it out.

You dont have to completely drop it, just lower it enough to unbolt the front diff mount, then undo the 2 rears, if the axles are un-bolted, then it should drop out.

With all the pain involved in dropping the subframe enough to get the front diff mount off, you might as well just drop the whole frame to the ground.

Having two extra jacks and two extra friends along also helps quite a bit.

Good luck,

you do need to drop the exhaust(stock exhaust Y pipe) in order to get at the Differential.Unless you are Gumby and can magically snake the diff past it.
alot of threads on this.YOu don't necessarily have to drop the Subframe to do this but it is easier,if you have limited tools.
One thing I am Forever wondering though, why do people just go Hack at the car without even Researching What The Fark they are doing? It's the best way to Get Hurt,Break something or render the car inoperative.
Please Man!,just Two minutes of reading over a couple of threads is going to save you from a Big Headcahe.(because that is what you will get if you drop the subframe on your Head!).
Just work smart,Work Safe,take your time,Know what you are Up against,and Wear a Parka!!!.damn it IS cold out there!..(and Smile,that wouldn't hurt either!).Cheers.STYX!~
