lsd. diff... question...

hey guys read this below.? i got this from someone's post awhile back.. (sorry for not posting your credit man. forgot to get your name..) read below if you guys think, or agree.. if that is true or not.?? and does it really work. on how to tell if a car has lsd or not... dose this work on any seven..? or does it just work with some.. well i mean on any rx7 if that below true is the result right.?? guys anything.?? thanks..

On your car, with the rear end in the air, if you turn one wheel the other should move the opposite direction if you do not have an LSD.

If the other wheel does not turn or turns the same direction that points to having a clutch type LSD. This test only works on the clutch type. The Fluid or Viscous uses a different test (one wheel turned one direction, then reveresed and turned and then reveresed back again and turned, then the rear should lock up and both wheels turn).

anything guys.??

i think the clutch type would have to slip for it to engage so with the car just lifted up i think the other wheel would spin the opposite direction like a normal diff unless the clutch engaged from slipping

Yep, those test directions are right.

The viscous fluid LSD needs the fluid to heat slightly to lock, and the Clutch type (unless worn out) will engage right away with no force on either rear wheel or the drive shaft.

I doubt it. Did yout not read the VLSD instructions for testing. If you have a LSD on a 90 it would be a VLSD. The clutch type LSD was not available on the S5 cars.

when i checked mine i had it in 1st gear and turned the rear driver wheel, the other side turned the opposite direction. BUT when i put it in nuteral and spun the wheel, they turn the same way. So im kinda worried cause when i purchased it, it was said to be a LSD. I bought the whole car as a parts car (was a write-off) and the rear tires had alot of wear but the wear was even on both sides. Im guessing the diff is lsd but worn out, im putting new fluid in it before my car gets finished.
