Lowest mile vert in existence?
 

I have no connection to this seller I just saw this and thought other rx7 enthusiasts may want to check it out! it doesn't even have a thousand miles yet!

I'd rather have the 3 million mile P1800.

There's no way the brake fluid in that vert is any good...the entire hydraulic system has to be full of mush.

$35,000 Bucks?..

ummm....ok but this thread isn't about volvos:scratch:. If this guy just had the car serviced don't you think they would check the brakes? If he has enough $ to buy the car and store it for over 20 years don't you think he would have the brakes flushed when necessary? Sounds to me like your just hatin....

Yup, probably so.
No indication the brakes were serviced, but what do I know?
Wonder why an unused CPU had to be replaced...

The car is beautiful, but I would not trust it to drive.

Every seal in the car, be it a/c, ps, coolant, brakes, engine, trany, clutch, wheel bearings and diff would be subject to leaking after a couple heat cycles. The a/c system will not have a charge, the coolant system will have ugly corrosion, apex and side seal - not. Fuel system corrosion. Struts, tires not to mention weather and window or roof seals...

It maybe best as a museum piece.

That was the point I was trying to make with the Volvo.
Even with 3 million miles, the P1800 has been in constant service and is in much better mechanical shape for it.

Bryan, I wasn't hating on the vert, it's lovely, but a car that just sat for 20 years is a potential minefield of problems.
Even the claim that the top has never been down is scary, is the material still flexible...what happens when it goes down and up a few times?

My old boss had a anniversary tbird that had less than 1k miles on it. He would drive it around the block from time to time and to get gas.

About the only thing that went bad was the ac coolant leaked out, would i drive it across country? No, but give it the same maintance you would a 150k mile fc and it will be a great car

I just bought a 1990 Convertible, Black on Black and 28,000 miles. This is now my wife's daily driver. We bought it for $4,000 and it looks new inside and out.

Luckily, there previous owner kept it well maintained over the last 20 years of storage. The owner passed away, and his sister had a Mazda dealer service and inspect at her cost of about $300 prior to my flying in to pick it up. I drove it 700 miles home from where I purchased. This is now my wifes daily driver and we will store it once snow comes, but will probably drive 9 months a year.

I use a 1986 RX7 GXL as my daily driver, and right now have 86,000 miles. I agree that these cars like to be run to avoid possible issues with sitting. However, I have been lucky to buy from good owners who took pride in maintaining their cars.

The headlight dimmer wouldn't work, most likely. I've replaced mine 3x.

All airbag verts use a unique electro-mechanical dimmer/turn signal system. The turn signal stalk switch does no work, it just tells the cpu what to do. The CPU's are such junk that back in the day, Icemark refused to rebuild that FC66 CPU. The headlight dimmer relay latch circuit is particularly troublesome.

Another issue that is annoying with the airbag verts. In the original Road&Track road test the writer noted that at some point every single test driver had been seen driving down the highway oblivious to the blinking turn signal.

Maybe they were just practicing for when they got old.

Nice find, but at least it had been driven during its pampered life. That allows it to be brought it up to temperature and for the moisture to be driven off. Plus all the seals, fluids and moving bits to work against each other and keeps things in proper working order. Hibernation during salty winter always helps to keep these car from rusting out from underneath you.

Heated and air conditioned garages keep cars in great shape too, where i keep my car in the winter is kept at a nice 67 degrees with heated floors. Its nit a barn find mess it appears to have been stored in a good environment

Not as clean as I would have expected.

A half day of cleaning and dressing is all it needs, i can appreciate the way it's being showed- not heavily dressed and greased up with sprays.

Theres alot of stuff i learned about that year convertible, from the pictures. I want the mud flaps.

Very nice vert, but man that is a lot of cash....

I definetly think it could sell for 12-15k to the right buyer but 35k is completely unrealistic

I'm more amazed by Rob XX7's garage and the vehicles it it. As for the low mileage vert. thanks for sharing. It's great to see some in great shape with low miles.
