low oil buzzer during autocross
well i had just changed my oil last night and went to an autocross event today. durring the course in multiple sharp turns the low oil warning light and buzzer would flicker on and go off. my oil is full, is that just oil moving around in the pan away from the sensor?
other than that the car is running fine :bigthumb: |

Its also moving away from the oil pickup... whether or not the oil pump actually gets starved... who knows without a pressure gauge. But we want our oil to stay put anyway. Oil is supposed to go down the oil filler tube, not come back up. You could install and oil baffle tray. Racing beat makes them, and mazdatrix carries racing beat products. Or, you could be a whore and take their pattern from the online picture and make one yourself with a hole saw and some sheet metal. Or you could convert to a full dry sump system and run no oil in your oil pan. Or you could forget about it and worry about it if one of your bearings seizes. |

nice, thats what i was thinking. The oil pressure was not dropping at all durring my runs. i think i might invest in that pan thing, it was my first autocross event, i loved it it was great! :bigthumb:
ps. why are miata's so good at autocross? like damn  atleast its still a mazda :bling: |
Especially with sticky tires, it's fairly easy to slosh the oil away from the pickup & such.
The baffle would be a good solution, though a bit of a pain to install. You could also just run a bit more oil in the pan (we don't have crankshafts to foam the oil, so minor overfilling isn't a problem). -=Russ=- |
or try a group four synthetic oil, actually the light would probably still flash.

I have the baffle plate, and I still get the buzzer from time to time. Just keep an eye on your gauge when it happens and check your oil level between runs and you should be fine.

I have watched my aftermarket gauge when the buzzer comes on.....the pressure does not drop.
