Losing faith in rotary!

Damn, i can't seem to fix my poor start or idle no matter what i check. It's too many things that could've gone bad. I have an 87 GXL that refuses to start when cold, i have to depress the accelerator for 5 minutes until it will get warm and idle on its own. Then the idle will stumble from 1500-950 rpm over and over. When i turn on the A/C it goes to 1000 rpm. When i unplug the TPS it goes down to 1000 rpm too. But if i depress the plunger on the TPS it'll bounce from 1000 to 600rpm almost stalling.
All this sh*t is so confusing i dunno if it's the TPS, dashpot, thermowax, fast idle cam, AFM, AWS or Bypass air Valve. I'm almost ready to give in and get a 5.0 mustang. The engine was from a wrecked 88 GXL. Some shop that didn't know alot about rotary engines put it in. But before that the engine was sitting outside their shop for 3 weeks before they actually decided to put it in. So it was exposed to rain and everything. Now it runs like crap. I just need to know ALL possible demons to rule out before i decide to sell my pride and joy.

the cycling idle sounds like a bad thermowax to me.
as for the TPS, there is an easy way to test it and adjust as well.
it takes 2 minutes, a multimeter, and a screwdriver. but heres the link
this writeup is for a turbo car, but i believe it to be the same for NA's

Sometimes you just have to take it to a shop and have them do it. Where in Miami are you?

I wouldn't get tooooo down on your car .... Remember they are around 15 years old. My car is going through a lot of little problems. I'm just trying to fix them one at a time till she is perfect!

I am sure if you put the work into this car and make it perfect (In your opinion) you will get a lot more enjoyment out of it than some mustang

One more thing .... I have the stumbling idle too .... This week I used some chevron with techron fuel injector cleaner additive. Although it didn't fix it ... I did notice a little improvement

my idle recently developed a bit of a stumble. I put new spark plug wires on and it is smooth as silk now. :)

I'm in the miami shores area, on 10ave. NW 100ST. just off of i-95.
I took it to some rotary shop on 36 ST and i don't think the guy there knows a clue of what he's doing. I took the car to him three times and it still runs idles like sh*t. All he does is adjust the idle screw on top the TB and that's it. He sucks ASS. I'm thinking of starting over and getting an S13 or another FC, one with less problems.
