loose tie rods?
Tried posting in the suspension forum, but I guess no one checks there...
I went to get my wheels aligned, and they said they couldn't align them 'cause the tie rods were loose. Any way to fix this? What new parts will I need? Also, I was wondering if perhaps this might be what causes my steering wheel to vibrate a lot past 75 mph. Any ideas? |

The tie rod is the part that connects the steering rack to the wheel I've never replaced it myself, But I know it will probably cost you around $300 for someone else to do it. edit: yes it will cause vibrations if they are loose |
If they are loose, they will need to be replaced.
eventually they wil fail (if loose) leading to a loss of control |
so what parts do i need to buy?
grr...why isn't mazdatrix working? edit: ah, here we go... At mazdatrix I see... tie rod 32-240A-FB01 $66.27 outer tie rod end 32-2800-8AF1 $60.80 So i will need 2 tie rods and 2 outer tie rod ends? Anywhere I can get them cheaper? |
Usually just the tie rod end, as the ball joint boots eventually break and allow grime in. All that crud will eventually wear out the joint, allowing the wheel slight right-to-left (Toe) freeplay.
I did it myself in about 20 minutes plus alignment time, but I have access to a lift and alignment rack. Parts are about $45 per side. |
where'd you get your tie rod ends?
|
I got mine from a local auto parts store that give's me a mechanic's discount.

they are $30-40 from victoria brittish.
