Looking for really smooth shocks for my 89 gtus

Hey guys have any suggestions for really good smooth shocks for my 89 gtus? Looking for a stockish smooth feel for the streets of San Francisco. Please let me know. Thanks

You could go with KYB's. They are about as soft as the stock units. If you want a soft ride though, you may want to consider something other than a GTUs for every day transportation.

Bay Area roads suck dude... I have KYB adjustables and Tanabe springs, I have to slow down for shit surfaces though or I'm scraping bumper and I'm not that low.

Also, welcome to the club!

We have the worst fucking roads... Bilstein makes excellent dampers. Ideally though, you'd want something double adjustable to ramp up the compression while leaving rebound relatively "soft" to account for just how bad our roads are.

Low Speed 60/40 Split on Compression/Rebound would feel great. High Speed, Rebound should increase while compression levels out.

The best shock/strut and spring combo for every day driving out of the ten RX-7s that I've owned is KYB AGX adjustables with Eibach pro kit springs. Lowers the car about 1 inch with a progressive spring rate. I just recently removed the B&G springs from my GTUs and put the Eibachs on. I also had the Eibachs on my 90 GXL.

I completely agree with NCross. I'm currently running KYB AGX adjustables with Eibach pro kit springs on my 90 GXL. You could also go with the Tokico Illuminas adjustables, but the AGX rears are more easily adjustable with the knob on the side of the shock.

tokico illumina's ride better then kyb agx's but rears adjust at top so not as easy to change shock settings as mentioned above by hotdog .
