Looking for a quiet exhaust system

Currently i am using CS turbo back system, performance wise i have no complaint at all especially for its price. But then is just too loud, although we don't have much law enforcement here that would care about exhaust noise but i really don't want it to become a hassle for others.

I am seeking for a 3" turbo back system with SINGLE exhaust, so racing beat is out of the question. But other branded ones are not much quiet either, i wonder if anyone else have a good recommendation. Doesn't have to be a full system i don't mind mix and match and get things welded together as long as it can provide a good flow with low noise level.

I am currently running on 14psi with 300~ish on wheel.

I think your better off with a custom application, my friend was using a 3in gp sport exhuast system (no cat but he ran a resonator and the car was still loud)...you could try the single apex-i but no idea how thick the piping is (I've heard it in real life didn't sound that loud to me)

I have a 3'' turbo back with a single Jegs 3''in/out muff and turn down tip and it's super quiet. Piping was super cheap and the muff was like 40 bucks or something like that. A lot cheaper then spending a bunch of money on Apexi N1 or some other exhaust that is nice but not too quiet. The Apexi is decently noisy and if you want to quiet it down you have to use the silencer.

I would get a 3 inch racing beat pre-silencer.

have you ever tried a silencer tip in your current muffler? I used to use one on my turbo II with ssautochrome 3" turbo back exhaust, and it did quiet the car down a lot.

i have a cork sport muffled test pipe with an apexi gt catback.

sooooo nice and quit.

Thanks for the input.

I did try to insert the silencer, but still is loud enough to trigger cars with aftermarket alarms. Which is the thing that i concern the most.

I don't know about anyone else but stock rocks, i just run a inch down pipe to 3 inch cat replacement all the way back to the "Y" and then stock out. nice and quiet. But deffinatly better performance then stock. i still get fuel cut with a 34mm ported wastegate. but not until late 3rd gear.

you would probably need 3 borla XR-1's to quiet it enough for a 3" single system.

this is what i run, it still performs almost as well as my 3" single but the stock catback is not as horrible as many make it out to be flow-wise. it also bolts right up to the CS downpipe and pre-silencer.

turbo or non turbo cat back? the stock NA catback is a bit smaller than the t2 unites.

RotaryEvolution 12-15-09 01:05 AM

S5 T2 catback, its only marginally larger than the n/a piping but i do believe the mufflers aren't quite as restrictive as the n/a ones. forgot to mention i am running about 300RWHP with them.

danegerous 12-15-09 01:35 AM

Haha well 300rwhp is a pretty significant, maybe take some notes nighthawk

RotaryEvolution 12-15-09 01:56 AM

the biggest bottleneck with the stock catback is before the Y split, i still have plans to cut and weld a bigger pipe on that portion.

NightHawkR 12-15-09 03:30 AM

I am running at around 300ish rwhp as well (with proper supporting mods), thats why i need a 3" system with better flow or atleast something equal to CS turbo back, and not as noisy :)

danegerous 12-15-09 03:42 AM

well good on you 300hp guys haha but Im telling you its not spendy to build your own using summit or jegs. for a full 3'' mine is decently quiet, I could shoot a video or something maybe.

RotaryEvolution 12-15-09 04:36 AM

well, being in cali you know how easy it is to get the wrong attention.

wackaloo13 12-15-09 02:15 PM

get some vibrant ultra quiet mufflers and make your own system.
