Looking for new power

i got 91 vert....got aftermarket exhuast, and after market intake...suspension is good. agx with RB spring, strut bar is in place...now i am looking for more power in the car....what's the next step...turbo, porting? can some body help

search for scathcart's nitrous thread. that's probably the best power for dollar.

is your compression good on that motor?

can't really just strap on a turbo and call it a day, chances are you're going to be spending more money and probably doing it wrong than just directly doing a TII swap, so you could consider that.

Porting might help a bit, check your compression, if you're not going TII and your compression's low, do a rebuild and port while you have it out and apart anyways.

Weight reduction

others things other people might be able to help with,

lol, I don't trust nitrous

T2 is a thought...but it seem too price for the cost....right now...i am looking at around 170-180 hp top....doing a t2 swap increase to 200-210 hp....a price for a t2 is from 1000-3000...seem to me this is too much....i think porting maybe the better answer but to get porting done where i live is a bitch....nobody seem to know how to do it....the closet shop around is like 4 hours drive

Dont judget the TII swap by its peak HP numbers. You probably arent at 180 crank hp either. The TII has more torque at a lower RPM, and more power is supporting mods/boost controller away.

With an NA you are looking at either weight reduction (good for every facet of performance) or porting. Making NA power is a lot more expensive than a TII swap...

What kind of power or speed are you looking for? If you want response stick with N/A, but N/A is more expensive. But a T2 swap is more than 3000$ My brother just did one. He got a JDM so it only took 1 1/2 months to find a good motor... but it is ported so either way. anyways he's about to spend 5000ish. I am not sure what the vert model is but I'll just guess. If it's what I am thinking you will need a new rear end from the T2 model and clutch so add that on top of the 4-5k. oh yea a tranny too... I would stick with N/A-If you want turbo by a T2 it's cheaper

+1 its cheaper to buy a TII than convert one.

If you want N/A power then pull the engine and get it ported. An Aux Bridge with a good streetport is fun. I know, I have one. It pulls much harder than my stock port vert, (thats partially because of weight), and I havent touched the exhaust or intake yet.

you should geta TII tranny regardless specially if you're planning on modding the TII, pricing also varies depending on if you know anyone who you buy it from and if you're willing to do the work yourself.

anyhow if you're looking for large power gains you probably should go TII. Unless you're doing a giant ass port job it shouldn't launch you anywhere over 200 hp, and there should quite a few shops in Cali, though cali's a pretty massive state.

drakeco 11-15-06 01:58 PM

can you give the the name for those shop....?

my brother just got a G35..my vert can beat him on the track...but not on a drag....i want to be able to kick his ass at a drag too...

doing a T2 swap i a vey big project for me...i dont know tho
