Mael, the company owner makes an excellent product and his customer service will not be suprassed. Look at the original couple of pages for pictures of the gauge pod and then the last page to sign up if you are interested. I hope to see some more names on the list after a couple of days. This is a GREAT deal and I wouldn't pass up on it if I were you guys. I have seen his products in person and they're worth more than he's charging for them!!

There is a writeup in that thread about a guy who relocated the warning lights to a single row that ran across the bottom of his gauge cluster. It looked pretty cool. But with aftermarket gauges you kind of negate the need for the stock WLC. Do you think you would want to get in on the group buy?

My home station is Beale AFB, CA but I'm deployed to the middle east for now. Where are you stationed?

LOW COOLANT
LOW OIL
LOW FUEL
Seatbelts?
Electric fan doesn't work.
Brake fluid low or handbrake ON
Hatch not closed.
Door not closed.
And some other stuff I'm sure I missed.

I don't see HOW this thing replaces all of that???

I'm sorry, but I think the thing is overpriced.
The original mold isn't that hard to make, and pumping out fibreglass copies is only a matter of maybe $10 in materials if you buy the stuff in bulk.
Sure, it's all nicely finished, but $75?

I think the other problem is that people are not willing to just yank out the warning cluster.
We were looking into making something like that (target price under $50), but we came to the conclusion that most people are not willing to just block the warning cluster or move it.

If it didn't block the warning light cluster, you could have counted me in. Why people design these things to block the idiot lights is totally beyond me...

hey what if they mounted up a little higher that way you could have a clear space and still see the idiot cluster. Im a little bit tall and im always looking down at my gauges, but if it was to high you could angle the gauges down alittle. Do you guys Even have a clue what I am metioning or am i just rambaling

I don't personally need the idiot cluster anymore. I don't have a low coolant sensor, don't need to be reminded to close my hatch/doors fully, and don't need to be reminded to fasten my seat belt. For the brake fluid, I check that religiously anyway since my 7 is only used for AutoX and drifting. And the same goes for the fuel level. But if my 7 were a daily driver then it might be a different story. Just my take on things.

Ottoman, as gay as it sounds I can't mention where I am. It was deemed as "Classified" due to the program I work with. I'm an RQ-4A Global Hawk mechanic so they try to keep things quiet. Which I personally think is idiotic, but hey not my call on that one. :)

That low coolant buzzer has saved my engine twice now. Once when my heater hose blew, and once when a piece of road debris cut my lower rad hose. To remove these necessary warning lights, in my opinion, is not the smartest of moves. :)

Aaron, getting rid of the cluster doesn't disable the buzzer unless I'm mistaken. As for some of the other lights, wouldn't it be fairly easy to just wire a signal device (light or buzzer) to any of the warnings you wanted to maintain?

IMO, if someone is willing to go to the trouble of adding wires, etc for new gauges, it's not that much more trouble to do that.

Disclaimer: I have yet to try adding lights, etc on my own car as yet, so I'm not sure if it's possible or not.

Without the light, the buzzer could be for anything. Low oil, low coolant, rev warning, shorted buzzer, etc.

As for moving the cluster, where would I put it? My center console is totally dominated by the heater vents, logicon, head unit and switches. I could put it on the headliner, but that's a MAJOR pain in the ass and a lot of wiring which must snake up the A pillar. I am not a fan of a "hacked" interior. I don't like random devices placed everywhere, visible wires, etc. And honestly, I have MUCH more important things to do then move an idiot light cluster for NO REASON since if the gauge cluster was designed properly, it should sit ABOVE the cluster in the first place. :)

It would be far easier for me to buy a Mustang or WRX cluster, trim the bottom and mount it above the idiot cluster. If done carefully, the lines of both these clusters match the stock interior very well. So I have added functionality to the car without removing functionality that was already there. This is a point that a lot of people seem to miss.

well..... I see your points... but... there is only ONE.. Most annoying sound on the face of the earth.... low water buzzer.. thank god for that... Even Ray Charles, even now that he's DEAD.. would recognize that sound as the low coolant buzzer with having to see the light!!!!!!!!!

That buzzer is also the overrev and low oil warning. I'm not saying it's rocket science to figure out what's wrong with the car if that buzzer sounds, but the idiot lights serve an important function...Also, if the low coolant light is on, I know I have about 30 seconds or so to pull over. If the low oil light is on, I know to turn the car off NOW.

the tail-light-out warning is helpful, too, saved me from a pretty sensless ticket before.

I think some small clear plastic cylinders cut to be infront of the warngin lights and travel to the bottom front of the new guages would remedy the problem. Or maybe even some fiberoptic line.

They should be like fiberoptic wire and carry the light to a point where you can just label them. Think about those little light sabre pens and stuff and you'll know what I mean.

Hmm maybe a small strip of l.e.d.s that you could place anywhere would be in order then?
you would just splice them in to the wires going to the idiot light cluster would that be something people would want to see. well Il make one up for my car anyway and see what you think ( I have a 240sx dash in my car so id have to make something anyway )
