Locked My Keys In My Car!!!!!

does anybody know how to get into a locked 91 rx7 with power locks!!! please reply asap i dont have money for a locksmith!!!

lchaidez 05-25-07 10:13 PM

well if your door isnt fully shut it should open once you slam it completely. It happened to me once. Do you have a friend that has Triple A? You can call him and tell him to call Triple A and say that its his car, not yours??

GeeHawf 05-25-07 10:15 PM

The triple A thing works like a charmm when they call they need to know basic information about the car and the area though...

Its awkward when they ask what color the car is and you ask them to hold on...:rlaugh:

feeldfunk 05-25-07 10:18 PM

its shut all the way. no one i know has triple A i already checked. do u guys kno how maybe to pick it?

PerkyStina 05-25-07 10:19 PM

yeah... do the Triple A thing... and if you can't, just go to Advance Auto and get the slim jim from the tool aisle. cost you about $10, IIRC.

PerkyStina 05-25-07 10:20 PM

call all your friends with FCs and have them remember their keys and try all the keys in your lock. SOMEONE will have the right key for you! :)

lchaidez 05-25-07 10:21 PM

what perky said... just becareful and not rip or jackup any wires in the door panel. Other than that... i cant think of anything else besides breaking stuff if you serioulsy dont have the funds...

feeldfunk 05-25-07 10:21 PM

slim jims are illegal in georgia

GeeHawf 05-25-07 10:22 PM

when I locked my keys in my daily driver and used triple A...they put wedges in between seal of the door an body (seemed really bad for it...anyways) and took a long wire and just pushed on the switch

That was their last resort since their slim jim tool didn't work
(^this was NOT on an rx7 though^)

Good Luck!

For mine, any key placed half an inch inside the lock will open it, gotta get that fixed!! For now, I use a Master Lock club and unplug the fuel pump when at school or parked outside the house.

Tier2racer 05-25-07 10:23 PM

bust out the back tail light in the middle and open the hatch:icon16:

PerkyStina 05-25-07 10:26 PM

it's properly called a lockout tool. They are commonly sold at auto parts stores. I KNOW Advance Auto sells them (I used to work there and always found it funny)

Should carry them at all stores, even GA. If not, use a coat hanger... GENTLY. :) try not to bend the window sill.

feeldfunk 05-25-07 10:30 PM

i tried a coat hanger it wouldnt open and ive done that before on a bunch of other cars i dont kno y it wont work on this one

If you can wait until tomorrow, take the vin # to the nearest Mazda dealership parts dept. It helps if it is one you have dealt with in the past so they can insure that it is your car. If you haven'tdealt with them before, just take some kind of proof of ownership and they should be able to make a key for just a few dollars. Most dealers are open on Saturdays and if the parts dept is closed, there should be someone at the dealership that can run a history sheet for you through Mazdanet.
It is also possible to carefully pull the top rear edge of the door (carefully) away from the body. If you can do this, you may be able to get something long into the car and reach down to the locks. Try a non-power antenna mast to reach in. They are small enough to fit, yet strong enough to give you leverage.

PerkyStina 05-25-07 10:34 PM

try both sides. ;) or wait til the dealership opens and have them cut you a new key with the VIN code. You will need to provide some sort of paperwork proving the car is yours... IE, bring a printout of your insurance paperwork with the car's VIN code on it... and they will make it for you. :)

PerkyStina 05-25-07 10:35 PM

lol wow... RX7GT, great minds think alike. ;)

feeldfunk 05-25-07 10:36 PM

jus bought the car today insurance papers in the car this is the worst case scenario

RX7GT 05-25-07 10:37 PM

I used to be a dealership service manager so I have cut my share of keys for customers who have locked their keys in.

should be available online to you, too. registration, etc. lots of ways to legally "break in" your car.

otherwise, I feel like I'm just being an accomplice to help you steal someone else's car.

feeldfunk 05-25-07 10:39 PM

lmao i swear its mine!

no they're not i just bought one not 3 weeks ago.

edit: I'm in Atlanta for school, cost $9 at advance or something like that.

darksider 05-25-07 11:16 PM

SEARCH!!!! you will find your answer. i promise

Stanis 05-25-07 11:23 PM

+1 for the key half way in. I locked mine in a couple of times. I could use the keys from the other 7 if I wiggle it just right. When I don't have access to those, a cavalier key works pretty well too. :shocking:

JustJeremy 05-25-07 11:42 PM

The only time I did I just CAREFULLY pried the corner of the door and used a antenna like RX7 GT said.

ohayou88 05-25-07 11:46 PM

call up your 7 buddies someones key will work. or if your key hole is pretty worn try a key from another car.
