Are lock swaps easy?
Okay recently someone thought it would be fun to break into my car. Apparently they failed at picking both the passenger and rear locks but managed to mangle the outside part of the passenger lock.(they just busted my right window) What im wondering is, is it possible to take the plastic and metal bits on the VERY outside piece of the lock and replace them from another door w/o switching locks?

Yep, it's pretty simple once you get the door panel off and the handle assembly out. If you can find that little metal key hole with the little door and spring intact at a junk yard or something, it's not too hard to replace. you have to be very VERY careful not to lose or mismatch the small brass tumbler thingies OR the springs that push them tho.

well thats not really lock swapping!!! Swapping locks would be changing over the locks period... That part would be east. Call home depot and see if they can re-key a car door lock. It easier to ask over the phone than in person so if they dont you dont feel stupid. Or try a lock smith or the Stealer Oops I ment the dealer...

Oh and the little plastic bezel that goes around the key hole will come right out with the key cylinder also. There is surprisingly just a little snap ring deal holding the whole thing to the handle... if I remember correctly.

sorry for being a little confusing, but if thats the case i dont think I should hesitate to buy 2 doors for $50? Sounds like a good deal right? And I should be able to still use my same key.
