A little help with Sparco Sprint installation please
 

Hello friends

Just purchased a used Sparco Sprint seat and I'm wondering if I can somehow rip off the rails from my driver seat and somehow bolt it on and make it work.

The mounting holes are on bottom of the seat. Anyone with experience please shed some light. I've tried searching but everyone else seems to be able to afford fancy rails. Any tips/info before I start hacking my seats will be greatly appreciated.

I have custom made adapters that mount my PRO Car seat to my stock 7 rails. It is just a flat piece of steel maybe 1/8" or something strong. It has counter sunk grade A allen screws that attach the adapter to the bottom of the seat and then to the rails. You just need to take some measurements and have some made. It should be really simple if you do it right.

I have the same seat and it is mounted to my stock drivers side seat rail. You just need to go to the hardware store and buy a piece of steel to bolt across the front of the seat rail, using the factory holes. I used 3/16 in thick 1 in wide steel stock.

In the rear you can run another strip across, but you will need to drill new holes in the seat rail. Or you can make short mounts that run from the seat to the original mount holes in the back of the slider.

I think I spent $25 on the steel, washers, grade 8 hardware and locknuts. You will need lots of washers to properly set the seat height so everything will tighten up correctly.

ditto, my seat setup didnt cost me a dime (luckily my boss lets me rob hardware and scrap steel) Took me a fair amount of time to get mine setup, about 4 hours in and out but that was because I only have .5cm clearence everywhere. The tricky part was making sure the seat is mounted correctly to allow full forward and backward sliding motion.... My seats are fat and tall.

Expect it to take a couple hours and multiple trial fittings. It is not hard at all though.

to be totally honest i never used a tape, the holes are cake to set up on the sheet metal on the seat, but like largeorangefont said, multiple trys and hours are expected. Good luck with the install, let us know how it went

I'm starting to understand the basic idea behind the install. I'm sure glad its not something I need to spend a fortune on !!

Only thing left I need to figure out is the size/thread/length of the bolts I need for this install. Any tips on how to find that out without actually taking off a sample from my seats? The bolts on on the factory seat rails, would they happen to be the same size/thread as the mounting holes of Sparco seat?

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

The seat is threaded for 8mmX1.25. The stock rail has no threads just holes. 8mm hardware will work fine for the entire project.

I would buy a few lengths of bolts and return what you don't need. You will need varying sizes from 15mm to 40mm. You will only end up using 8 bolts total. Also get lots of 8mm washers, 30 is more than enough.
