Don't get the TII. The GT-S is a great car. You are 16. You don't need the worries of a turbo car. Cars are a big hole you throw $$$ in....TRUST ME. I am 19, I've had my 91 n/a for about 9 months now, and I am just getting ready to tackle a turbo. You got the $$$ for engine and turbo rebuilds? I bet not on a 16 year olds salary. If you really want a TII, try to keep it simple. Baby it, don't race it out and beat on it. Plus, a 200 hp+ car is a bad idea for a kid just learning how to drive. I have beaten up my n/a so much, it is gonna cost me $2k to fix the body!! Take some time, drive a slow car for a few years, then you will be ready for a TII!! Plus, save your $$$, in a few years, you can get a MEAN TII for how much you have saved!!!

Do not get a Turbo as your first car. I recommend an N/A RX7, because they are fast enough for a 16year old, but do not require the extra care a turbo does. It is also a good idea to get a rotary as your first engine, because it will teach you how important it is to keep up on maintanence. It is not expensive to keep the rotary clean, just change your oil every 3K and keep plenty of antifreeze in the radiator and just use common sense! My first car (I was 14) was a 91 convertible (N/A) RX7. It seemed very fast to me at first, and it was great on the turns. Its handling characteristics have saved me from a couple of wrecks (none were my fault-WOMEN CANNOT DRIVE!!!!). It has been a forgiving car, but now it just does not have enough power for me (I am 17 now). I purchased an 88TII that I am going all out on (hybrid turbo, Haltech, the works...).
I highly recommend doing what I did. Start simple, because you are bound to make mistakes.

I concurr. N/A to TII. Learn how to frive a RX-7, then get one with some power. The handling of a n/a and a TII are very close, so you can get the feel of the weight of the car, then, when you get the turbo, you can control the power!!

The biggest concern i have is "mpg"

What if I stripped the interior, and took out some of the unneccesary parts..would that help?

I would try a 1st gen. Cheaper, more reliable, easier to work on, FUN to drive (like a go-cart!)

there is a salvaged gsl/se here. the guy said hed sign it to me for $100. it has slight body damage. but its an old race car. we'll see. :) im excited about it
