Be sure to replace them with new studs. I had one missing for the coolant feed line, and used a bolt in its place. It started leaking the first time I ran the engine. I ended up stealing a stud from an extra LIM to take its place.

sure it wasn't leaking cause of the flange for the coolant line being deformed?

Happened to me and it drove me nuts cause everytime i'd fill it up it would piss out of that thing.

the block off plates i bought came with new hardware and didn't use those studs. i took them out and have been using set screws with no issue.

No, the flange is not warped. I suppose if you used some long screws they'd have enough grip, but the short ones I had wouldn't do the job. Swapped to a stud & nut, and voila...no more leak.

How do you tap a stud?

quik-center: I've used it on fused (rusted) and broken off bolts. Work like a champ. Should work even better on studs.

I had the same thing happen to me. I thought I forgot to tighten the nuts or didn't use enough silicone sealant. I'm always worried about using too much gasket maker and having the excess squeeze out into the coolant system and jam up something like a coolant hole in one of the rotor housings.

I pulled the fitting off the LIM and held a level against the flange. The bitch was warped 1/8".
