Wow, looks good! Just wondering if it will scratch up too easily or turn yellow...

Rxmfn7 12-13-03 04:19 PM

Awesome... Is someone making these for sale..or was it a one time thing?

luiml73 12-13-03 04:38 PM

The screws we used are a bit too long. For the next ones we will use small screws that fit flush. Other than that we're pretty happy with our product.

We are planning on making 10 for now. We are working on a price as we speak.

I'll keep you guy's informed of our progress.

Steel 12-13-03 04:43 PM

Is that supposed to be able to slide like a normal sunroof assembly, or just serve as a see through but permanent cover for the hole?

(Edit. Signature removed)

Rxmfn7 12-13-03 04:54 PM

If you do not yet have buyers for the 10 that you are making, please let me know. Unless the price is outrageous, I will buy one for sure.. Please keep me informed.

Does this still let the roof slide back like normal? Or is it made to be a fixed piece?

luiml73 12-13-03 04:57 PM

Does this still let the roof slide back like normal?

yes it does:D

Ocelot 12-13-03 05:14 PM

Is there any bending in the process? If not I think i'm gonna try and make some of my own.

nization 12-13-03 06:03 PM

I've got $$. I'd like one, maybe two, if you've got them for a reasonable price.

Dan H 12-13-03 07:14 PM

Pricing? Just curious...

evileagle 12-13-03 07:24 PM

yeehaw.

Good choice on the Lexan, I saw someone on here mention earlir that they were concerned about it getting yellow. This isn't an issue with Polycarbonate (Lexan is a brand of polycarbonate), it will never yellow the way that plain acrylic will. It is also a lot stronger, it's the stuff they make airplane windshields out of.

cluosborne 12-13-03 07:36 PM

Really nice. I would definitely consider buying one if the price is right.

Cool! Thanks for the info. I didn't know about that.

Jazzman_Q 12-13-03 09:45 PM

Count me in as being interested, pm me if you have $$ info, or need someone to fill out the 10 you were making.

It could scratch if youre being abusive but otherwise PC(lexan) is VERY strong and wont turn yellow.
PC/Lexan(polycarbonate) is used as reinforcement in bulletproof shields, windows and other strong stuff

*edt* nevermind
I just read what Evileagle said.
PC = Teh shiaaatttt

digitalsolo 12-13-03 11:09 PM

3RotorRocket 12-14-03 01:11 AM

it looks pretty good im suprised

BLUE TII 12-14-03 02:27 AM

Awsome!

I hope you are able to offer this product for sale; I see so many otherwise clean 2nd gens w/ sunroof cover rust.

I have a glass top now, but i would ditch that for some weight savings (w/ mechanism removed of course).

I have been thinking of buying an arcrylic hatch, but the issue of scratching is bothering me.

Is it possible to put the tinting film on the outside? I haven't seen tinted windows getting scratched from the inside. Also, if it did get scratche/gouged, you could replace the film like a goggle's "tear offs".

Rx7Boi 12-14-03 04:37 AM

looks good.. i want one..

chimp 12-14-03 12:33 PM

Looks very nice. I would certainly be interested in one if you decide to market them. How much did it cost you to make the prototype (e.g. money/time)?

Turblown 12-14-03 03:42 PM

I'm interested.

aurosting 12-14-03 03:56 PM

IM INTERESTED WHAT THE PRICE

Aaron Cake 12-14-03 04:01 PM

No more posts about anything to do with the girl. It is very pathetic that I have had to clean this thread up. Any more, and the thread is gone.
