Lense cold air ducting.

well, i dont want to buy a headlight cover with a scoop, so i was going to take out the lense under it and make ducting. so can i run it around and to the right side of the headlight. or would i have to cut a hole? if so, could i just run it right under the head light (while down)? i just need any simple ideas that i could do by my self with limited tools and skills...

also, if anyone has a simple thing like that can i see some pictures or will you give me ideas of how you did it?

I did that exact thing. Removed both of my FTP lenses and cut a huge hole next to the headlight on the passenger side. No pics though sorry. Works good, would work even better if the headlight wasnt there.

This is the third thread you've started about this. The answers haven't changed...

bdoty, any way we can convince you to take a pic?

steve's dog 06-12-03 09:34 PM

this is more specific on what i need to do, and bdoty answered it kind of.

where next to the headligh? right or left side of it? (while infront of the car) have you ever like put a fan infront of it or anything to see if it actuaclly works? did you make any ducting or just cut a hole?

bahh..remove the washer bottle and cut away!!!

Scott 89t2 06-12-03 09:51 PM

if you take out the FTP lense. the air goes in and is then traped on 4 sides by metal which holds the headlight in....

so unless you cut away metal. it's usless.

steve's dog 06-12-03 09:55 PM

i know that jack ding. but im just not sure about where on those sides i should cut a hole. i gues i could go look............but, i dont know.

Scott 89t2 06-12-03 10:00 PM

well the back side has lots of wiring around it...

the "inside" is easy to cut. but the the air is just traped between your stock plastic rad ducts and the hood....

i also dont know how to cut big metal...any ideas?

steve's dog 06-12-03 10:25 PM

does anyone know much about the winsheild washer bottle? where is it under the car? if i took it out what would be needed to get some air coming through that hole? and is it possible to relocate that bottle?

Next time I go over to my aunts Ill use her digital camera.

I cut next to and alittle behind the headlight. I originally just did beside, but cut away even more when I had my headlight out. I dont have any ducting, but that would help if you could get something that would fit good behind the FTP lense hole and infront of the headlight.

I'll ressurect this thread when I get a pic going.

The windshield washer bottle is located underneath of the right fender. You will need to take the inner fender off and remove it, its held on by a bracket with 3 bolts. You can relocate it anywhere you want, just need to run the hose and wiring to wherever you decide to. There will be a hole in the drivers side identical (almost) to the one on the passenger side where the filler neck was. (this was used on some models where an additional washer bottle was located for headlight washer nozzles) You could possably use this hole to locate it, identically how it was located on the other side. Youd just need to bend the braket a little and possably drill a few holes. Honestly what you are trying to do is in no way worth all the hassle. But do as you wish...

I need one of those things bad.....

I started the hole with a hole from a drill bit, and used a screw driver and a hammer to cut an outline, I was bored last summer.
