lean problems

ok ive had some lean problems for a while and have checked and gone through somethings and still no luck. heres what ive done so far

1. replaced all coils, spark plugs and wires
2. replaced intank and engine bay fuel filter
3. replaced o2 sensor
4. checked for vac leaks
5. verified injectors are working (now that the correct secondaries are in their whole other side story on that one)

now i just noticed today that the incorrect bac valve is installed on it. dont ask my why. i bought this car from a moron that should never touch a car again. from having the wrong driveshaft, ecu, afm, pressure sensor, injectors, and list of other stuff ive replaced it was a question how the hell this car ran in the first place.

compression is 85 in front and 95 in back. whats left to check? when i first start the car it starts rich but once the car warms up it goes very lean.

bump come on somebody must have some input

Where are you reading the rich/lean from? O2 sensor? Wideband? Guessing? Using a ACV and airpump?

That narrow band is about as accurate as nothing.... What year/model is your car? Have you scanned codes for malfunctioning sensors?

yeah i know its not that accurate but its at least telling me its lean as shit. the 91 list in sig.

J-Rat Sep 25, 2005 06:04 PM

Any codes?

RotaryBuddha Sep 25, 2005 06:11 PM

not at home right now but will defetinaly pull the codes, based on the write up on 1300cc.com

Are you using a digital meter to read the 02 sensor?

Also try this. Buy a water hose clamp that will clamp on the body of the 02 sensor. Attach a ground wire to it and connect the other end to the engine. Either that or make sure you have a good ground on the exaust pipes to the chassis.

im using a autometer cobalt a/f gauge. i know its reading in the ball park cause im having all the conditions of being lean. no power, constant backfiring, etc..

i tried pulling the codes and i got nothing the check engine light didnt even light up.

as stated above after the car warms up, it stays constant lean with load and no load.

RETed Sep 26, 2005 08:33 AM

O2 sensor unplugged?
O2 sensor bad?

RotaryBuddha Sep 26, 2005 09:36 AM

motoworx Sep 26, 2005 05:33 PM

RotaryBuddha Sep 29, 2005 03:53 PM

bump still having problems anymore input would be great im out of ideas.

1987RX7guy Sep 29, 2005 04:29 PM

Like I said man, pay for some dyno time.

88t2romad Sep 29, 2005 04:41 PM

so the only thing your going off for your mixture is the narrowband 02 sensor?

Any vacuum leaks on the engine side of the afm. (Seems like it would make it run lean to me) Just an idea

dyno time will come after the standalone, replumped fuel, and new rear end.

ill check for vac leaks again. plus plan to block off bac valve.
