Lastest Project: 1988 T2 Bucket
1 Attachment(s)
This car has been sitting for about 8 years. 2 years ago my B-in law picked it up to make a SCCA racer/drift pile out of it. He bought a j-spec that happened to be blown, and lost interest. So it sat for an additional 2 years. Well he sold it to me.. For way more then it is worth (he really needed the money)... And now I have this bucket at the house. It is 12 different colors, has a blown engine... and the interior is stripped minus the dash.
I am going to paint it back white so that the car can be out in the driveway if need be... i am really just trying to decide if it is worth my time to get it back on the road... I have sold most of the Turbo parts.. I was thinking of just simplifing things by sourcing a carb/manifold set, and having my buddy Chad who is starting to rebuild rotaries on the side- build me an N/A engine to toss in there mated up to the t2 tranny, and perhaps do a blowthrough later.. OR I may just fill in the dings, line up all the body, paint it, and sell the chassis.... it is a good rust free chassis, with a good clean title.. I wonder if I could squeeze the $450 i need out of it as a roller...... |
remove the wing and paint the whole thing black, rims included. rebuild the t2 block and leave it gutted
I'll buy it for $450, is it an S4 or S5 jspec?
S5... I am not going to sell it with the motor though... just the chassis..lol..
Ahh nevermind then lol
sell the suspension and the wheels then scrap the shell. you'll get more than you were asking.
Not worth saving then huh?
Back a couple years ago this shell would have been gone in big demand. Now most people are telling me to give up on it... Kinda heartbreaking. Oh well if it looks good after paint I will probably try to bring it back to life.. If not.. What a shame... I have owned 19 Rx-7's now and it seems that I crush way more then I keep....
ill buy the diff half shafts and driveshaft
Sounds like you should part it. At least that way you will be saving other cars even if you have to kill one.
Keep the turbo engine setup! Especially if you want to drift. If you look at some of the other posts on the NA engines, they are getting less than 200whp, and I dont think there is much low end torque.
Anyways, I would consider saving it. Just get rid of the wing and give it a nice spray can paint job. hee hee Turbo!!! I love na though, but the chasis is a lil heavy to just have 200hp. stock t2 with bolt ons will make a lot morepower. I got my s5 t2 turned into a to4 hyrbid for another $160 more on top of the rebuild price. Tons more power, you just need the fuel injectors and fuel management, but well worth it |
My last N/A was in upwards of 250hp...(dyno'd)
I am thinking about saving this thing... i don't Drift but have been known to autocross :). After I paint it I will make a decision. |
Save it.

S5 6 port engine with a massive port job, basically merged both 5th and 6th making it a 4 port, it had 13,000rpm race bearings, wolf 3d standalone, jacobs ignition pack, jacobs wires, T2 injectors, TB modification and port matched intake runners, air intake with cold air box..

Jesus man, another one?!?
it's an illness.
