largest + Offset

hey guys stupid ? but what is the largest + offset of wheel you can run on an fc im looking at getting some 18s but they are a +38 with they fit on it or no the rims are 18x8

It depends on how "hella flush" you want it! But really, that's basically a stock offset (+40).

edit: as long as overall wheel/tire height doesn't chang too much, that guide will be pretty accurate.

I would suggest that your question also depends on the type of suspension you are running. Coilovers do not typically take up as much room as an OEM type suspension. Ride height and camber are also things to consider.

I'm looking at a set that are staggered 18x8 and 18x9 both with +38mm offset. I have been told that they will work.

The recommended tire size for the 18x8 is 215/40 18, but I'm considering 225/40 18's for the 18x8's in the setup that I am considering. I would think that the wider tire would give you some benefit.

Thanks guys how about a good size tire to run on a 18x8 with +38 offset for stock suspension

17x8 +38 on 225 was to close to struts in my S4, they were rubbing, so if i were you i will look for a little more offset.

KKMpunkrock2011 08-13-10 12:49 PM

17x8, +45, 225/45/17 rubbed on my buddies stock suspension, but with knightsport coilovers he doesn't have a problem. It's an s5

Go baller, or go home. Lol.

JK. Do your research, and get whatever styling you want...aggressive, flush, stock-ish.. To each his own. I like aggressive offsets, personally.

I had a similar experience with 16 x 8 +38 with 225s and they rubbed pretty badly. I'd agree you should look for wheels with lower offsets unless you're OK with a 215 size tire.

Is anyone running 225/40 18's on 18x8" rims? If so, are you having any rubbing issues? What type of suspension are you running?

plutten 08-14-10 10:59 AM

I have 225/40x18 on 8" rims i run et25 and there isn't much room on the inside... Cusco coilovers fitted btw...
Tryied to mount 9x18rim yesterday et 35 - Did NOT work at all. I wasn't surprised :)
