Lap Belt Does't Lockup When Needed

My seatbelt dash warning light is on, and both my driver and passenger lap belts do not engage ever (taking corners hard etc..)

Auto shoulder belts work just fine, as factory recall was done recently on them.

I had the interior our of my car to deal with water leakage problem... Could I have missed something on the re-install that caused this problem?

Thanks for any help out there..

I believe the lap belts are the inertial type.

There is a weight inside the reel. When the weight moves foward....IE your slowing very very quicly it swings forward and locks the belt.

The only to test it is to well.....slam on the brakes and see what happens.

Cornering is a sideways force....and it should not move that weight foward.

^^

thanks James -

Gave her a real test - slammed on the brakes and they do work afterall..

The shoulder belts seem to lock earlier than the lap belts (which messed me up because the shoulder belts would lock on corners, but not the lap belts)..

Thanks again.
