KYB AGX with what springs?
 

Well after searching and reading about 50 threads or so I still am not sure which springs with be best for me matched up with the KYB AGX struts.

The car is an 89TII which is driven only the weekends but I have plans to visit the track a few times a year but mostly street driven.

What is the difference between linear and progressive? My basic understanding is that linear springs stay the same all the time regardless of driving conditions and progressives adjust by themselves depending on driving style/road conditions/load.

Also I have read about mixed experiences with actual ride height drop due to already worn out springs and such. Feedback would be great.

I will be ordering my suspension at the end of this week and I'd like some solid feedback before I dump my money into something I may not like the feel of.

You are pretty much dead on with the linear and progressive terms. From what I have read and people have told me, progressive gets progressively harder to compress the more stress that is applied. It is where it gets its name. In light of that, I voted for Eibach Pros.

The only thing that I know to tell you about ride height and such is that you might not notice a difference in the height if you had old springs. The old springs may have been sagging enough that the lowering springs just keep the car at the same height. However, you will notice when you start driving the car. You will notice that it feels more firm. Hope this helps.

you can see some pictures there. I am very happy with the springs. I can't compare to the Eibach Pro because I've never driven a car with them. All I can say is that I am happy with my setup, it handles great feels tight very responsive. I just did polyeutherane bushings on the suspension also. It's a night and day difference from the old worn stock components

In a couple of months I will be doing what you are doing. I plan on buying AGX's with eibach pro kit because I have heard they are the best in terms of ride comfort and stiffness. I have heard that ST have almost the same spring rate as stock, that will be the only reason that I am not going to buy ST.

On my Turbo2 I had KYB struts, mated with RB springs. I really liked that setup, nice and stuff, and cornered well.

I assume spring rate affects the stiffness and overall feel of the car, reducing body roll and nose diving. If that's the case, the is no way the ST springs have the same spring rate or close to stock springs. There is too much of a noticeable difference while driving the car. I am sure the shocks have alot to do with it also but I use them on the softest setting most of the time. I have been driving my car since it had 50,000 miles on it, and it has never handled as good as it does now (180,000 miles). Again I am going by the feel of the car not spring specifications. I am not suggesting that they are better than the eibach pro kit either.

I guess I should have made myself clearer. The SP are fine, but are mostly a street spring. When I invest into springs I will be buying the Eibachs because of there progressive spring rate.

im going with AGX Adjustable's, you cant lose there only per $85/rear and per $105/front im not sure what springs im gunna get yet tho. i was leaning towards eibachs but suspension Techniques is tempting me.

I guess those number sound just about right. I also looked into the eibach progressives when I was shopping around, I was on a very tight budget so I got the ST ($180). They are surely an upgrade from the original. If you can spare the extra money go with the progressives I guess. Good luck either way :)

I have the kyb AGX's with the Suspension Specialties Street-Comp lowering springs, very nice ride.

Keep them coming guys. Any info to help me decide by the end of the week would be great.

I got suspension tech springs with my AGX and the car couldn't be any better balanced, since the sus tech springs have the same compression ratio for the front and rear, although I do leave my rear struts on the softest setting for 80% of the time.

oh and the ride is prolly better than stock

lol, with all the good reviews that ST is getting, I just might be switching.

Well there seem to be alot of good reviews for the ST's but only 2 votes for them so far.

Why not some cheap coilovers like K2RD or Ground Controll, are you trying to save money?

Well I am trying to save some money. Considering I can get wholesale prices a coilover system may be worth it but I cant say so until I get the prices. It would be nice to get struts/springs for around $500.

I didnt take pictures. DIdnt have a digicam at the time. I can try and get a picture of my car to compare how much lower it is.
