KOYO vs Fluidline vs Godspeed radiators

Anyone have any experience or heard anything about the Godspeed radiators for the FC. They are cheapest bolt in's that I've found, they are located close to my house so I can pick it up for $195. They are 3 mm thicker than the koyo and have a three year warrantee. I was told that they are modeled after the U flow Koyo. I'm probably going to buy this tomorrow unless you guys can convince me otherwise. Please let me know what you guys think.

FWIW I have seen alot of KOYOs fail.

CORKSPORT FTMFW!!!! Corksport is 65mm thick. Koyo is only 52mm thick. Plus you can get a corksport shipped for the price of a koyo. So its $20-30 cheaper too.

I don't know about that rad, it looks a little on the bootleg side, kind of like the replacement I got from napa. Corksport is quality stuff.

myersprostatus 04-23-09 07:27 PM

i have a godspeed intercooler and it works dandy

Grip 04-23-09 07:55 PM

i have never had a problem with Koyo, and ive had one in every car ive built, and all my buddies have koyorad's.

freemanrx7 04-23-09 07:59 PM

My koyo fit perfect. Had it about 1 year and no complaints.

arghx 04-23-09 09:05 PM

I've heard of Koyo failures but I've never seen one. My Fluidyne works well, but they are hardly the cheapest option.

And then Ron Davis radiators came along

gkarmadi 04-23-09 09:59 PM

Ihave koyo in my car for 2yrs now (I bought it used) and I am running fmic, my water temp does not goes above 185F.
So no complaint..... But I do want to upgrade to a thicker core rad.

that godspeed doesnt look like a good design.. both the inlet and outlet being on the same side and all... im sure theres a divider, but still too much maze shit imo.

HHTurboVert 04-24-09 01:39 AM

I was hoping to hear that one of you actually has one of these radiators. I was looking at it and noticed that the cooling bars run sideways. Any ideas on how this would affect it's performance? Does that mean it's a U-flow? Did you notice that is claims to be 40% more efficient than stock? That is higher than koyos claim of 25-30%.

Did I mention it is 195 out the door? I just might have to take one for the team on this one. I might have to be the guinea pig. Keep the feedback coming, I still haven't made up my mind.

That's a cross-flow radiator, with a two pass design just like the Koyo N-flow, and also just like the stock oil cooler. Does that have too much mazes shit too?

Only problem I see with the Godspeed is the coolant filler neck. I though the S5s had the gooseneck filler so they didn't need the second cap on the engine (like the S4s or FDs). It might just bee an S4 rad pictured, but I'd want to be sure.

If I could find that out I'd be willing to give it a try too.

All were installed correctly, all failed at the seam.

Not trying to steer people away from the Koyo, just throwing out what I have seen. I wouldnt buy one.

What would you suggest then?

I'm running a K2RD knockoff right now that has cooled my car really well for the few hundred miles and 2 track days I've had it on so far... It was definitely a pain in the ass to install since it's so much larger than the stock rad.

Hypertek 04-24-09 08:59 AM

I doubt godspeed put tons of research and development on their parts, they are another ebay knock off brand.. your K2RD is probably just as good.

RHDturboII 04-24-09 12:40 PM

I am very happy with my Ron Davis radiator. Nice design and works well in the hot climate we have here.

HKSpoweredFC3S 04-24-09 08:27 PM

just get the godspeed lol, they wouldnt mass produce them if they didnt work well. save your money because either way, their all going to do about the same in the end.

its aluminum and thicker compared to your stock one...its simply better.

that is a horrible post... just because its thicker does not make it better. its all about flow

That's quite the leap. So these work well because they're mass produced?

solareon 04-25-09 12:04 PM

I wouldn't be a guinea pig with a rotary engine. Unless you got all your pennies saved up for a rebuild

By that logic, a Yugo would be about as good as any other car because they mass produced them. Volume sales are never an indication of quality. Look at all the records Britney Spears sold.

So guys, I bought the Godspeed and installed it yesterday.

A few things about he install. They said that is was a direct bolt it, it is not. The mounting tabs on the side of the radiator do not line up on the top. I had to drill a hole on the top of stock bracket (pretty easy). Also, the threads for the radiator coolant level sensor seem fragile. At their shop in El Monte they tried giving me a radiator that may have already been installed. I inspected it and found that it had a few bent fins and that the threads were stripped out on the coolant level sensor.

I test drove it yesterday and was able to get the temp up to 213 F going up hill over 100mph. Mind this was at night with about 65 F air, with the stock rad I was hitting 223 F at 85 in 90 F weather. I'm driving about 150 miles today, I should have a better idea of how well it's cooling. I'll give you guys an update later.

J-Rat and I are both using K2RD radiators. For the price I'm really satisfied with it. Other than having to relocate my battery and make new oil cooler lines, which is probably good anyways.
