koyo rad. install question
 
this may sound stupid, but i'm learning as i go. got my koyo rad. yesterday and i was looking at my stock(still in car) radiator and the koyo.

everything looks fine except for the fact that i need to figure out how to mount the koyo. the stock rad mounting fasteners are parallel to the rad. and has some kind of bracket going around it that actually mounts it to the car. however, the koyo has 4 bolts that are "perpendicular". in other words, the stock rad bolts facing toward front of the car and the koyo has 4 bolts facing in towards the rad.

do i need to make a custom bracket of sort? am i not seeing something? those who have installed koyo, please help!

and another thing. that small port that came plugged on the top. i'm assuming that's for aftermarket ECT sensor for a gauge, is that what it is?

the bracket's from your stock rad come off and go on the koyo.

the hole at the top is for coolant level sensor
should be on you stock one too.
just move it over to the new rad.

ok, i wasn't sure if it did. now it makes sense.

No, there's a plugged hole on the top neck in addition to the ECT sensor hole by the filler.

just did mine yesterday, and that hole on the neck is where a plastic plug with a phillips head goes into, your stock one may or not fit. mine didn't. i got a plastic drain cock for a subaru from the auto store that fit perfect though. my .02 cents

i guess leaving that plastic plug in wouldnt be too good w/ high temp. wait, i think my stock rad. drain plug is plastic or something. sure isn;t metal. can that plastic plug from koyo withstand coolant temperatures?

here's how it all went
 
well, just got done with installing the koyo rad. here's how it went

everything went smoothly until i tried to take the brackets off the stock rad. they were epoxied on to the rad. so after few minutes of prying w/screw driver and hammering, i got them off. and then i realized i would have to bend the tabs in certain way(several 90deg bends on each tab x 4). that took a good hour of hammering.

after getting the brackets on the koyo rad., i transfered the sensors over. i pulled the plastic plug in the drain to replace with my stock one, then i saw that the koyo plastic plug had an O ring. i guess it was intended to be used. my stock plug is plastic anyways, so i put the koyo plug back in.

went to put the koyo in the car and it fit like a glove. although, i had to cut about 3/4" off the lower hose to get rid of the bend caused by excess hose.

everything went smoothly, except for all the hammering. and i love the way it looks. plus i got a greddy cap(0.9kg/cm2) to go with it. i need to get an e-fan, so u can see more of it. i highly recommend this unit for replacement of stock radiator.
