Knock Control Box?
Hey guys,
First time pulling the engine harness through the firewall on my current rebuild... thought I had all the plugs unhooked before I started tugging. Well I folded the knock control box circuit board in half. lol. Is this needed to run my car safely? I have the last minute things to install/check before my car is ready to fire up for the first time again. Will it be fine running and driving around without this until I can source one? I'll be in the break in miles so no boost and well under any real load and 3k rpms. -Allen G. |

the s4 knock control system is pretty crude/ineffective by their own admission:
https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1281722230 The s4 system used an analog system in that external box, and a knock sensor in the middle iron. Mazda redesigned the knock control logic and integrated it directly into the s5 T2 ECU while also relocating the sensor. |
Gotcha... well from what I'm reading it really never made a difference anyway due to other vibrations and "noise" that it was ineffective? I just want to be positive b/c there is no box plugged in at the moment and I'm finishing up my rebuild. I will hopefully have her started today and want to start putting some miles on it if it goes smoothly.
Thanks for the reply! -Allen G. |
