Kia Sportage 4.778 ring pinion gear in N/A rear end?

Apparently the Miata and S2000 guys have been looking to this for a cheap alternative, according to this website:

Are our diffs similar enough so we can take advantage of this as well? These gears go for like $300 at a Kia dealership lol

no, the pinion on 2nd gen rx7s are longer.

Ha ha thats Funny!! Who knows if it will work but why the hell would you want a kia Part on your 7? I Had an 02 Kia and after about a month of having it the transmission went. At least it was under warranty and got it fixed. I bought it in like 03 with 15K mi. on it. Don't have it no more since it got totaled by an old man running a red light.

its an outsourced part, so its really neither mazda nor kia

Kia actually uses a number of Mazda parts, like you can use a Kia block in a Miata, as they're the same.

Depending on where it's built there may be some potential for it to be slighly lower quality or potential QC failures, but I'd think that it should be up to the task.

You'd have to graft the FC pinion shaft onto the Kia pinion gear like with any of the other high ratio axle ratios used by FC road racers.
