K2RD radiator?

I was just browsing the K2RD website and I saw this radiator. Apparentely it's really big and it looks really nice. Has anyone tried this? How does it compare with the fluidyne or koyo?

chris-reedtn 10-27-02 02:44 AM

no, but i will

fastrotaries 10-27-02 04:02 AM

words anyone.......please?

Turblown 10-27-02 10:19 AM

i'll let you know once my car runs. J9Fd3s uses it on his 20B FC, so you know its gotta be good, plus its HUGE.

j9fd3s 10-27-02 10:24 AM

its super big. my 20b runs cool with it.

you sure do ask a lot of questions dont you.

Rpeck 10-27-02 12:52 PM

It's agreat rad .. but its also a pain in the ass. Requries battery relocation & it cost extra if you want a heater hose plug-in made. I dn't think you need that big of a RAD for a 13B unless you want to go through all the extra work. Gey a Koyo, or a fluidyne.

Scott 89t2 10-27-02 12:58 PM

agree with above... it's probably not worth the work over a fluidyne unless you are doing lots of custom work.

but I have one.

Rotorific 10-27-02 01:33 PM

a very good radiator along the lines of fluidyne and koyo

Morbius 10-27-02 02:13 PM

I have one and doing a a FMIC and custom mounts anyways for everything up front. It is alot larger compared to stock. I dont know how it cools yet since I am not running.

I got it because i wasnt to run a FMIC, and there is always cooling issues with them.

DaleClark 10-27-02 06:47 PM

I wish I could find the site again - those are just domestic application radiators. They normally sell for about $250 or so. If you notice, the mounts are on the top and bottom too.

I think the price should be more fair for something that's only a notch or two better than a Griffin that's hacked in .

i have a griffin hacked in... i don't like it. i'm putting a stock rad back in.....

summit racing sells great Howe radiators. I will be running one on my 10 AE when I am done with my haltech install.

RotaryTurbo is running one on his 11.7 second '91 TII, so you know it cools well.

go to summit racing. here is the description:
Chevrolet: universal, 26 in. x 19 in. x 3 in., aluminum, radiator
part number:
HRE-342A
price:
199.95

takes a small amount of work to get it in, but it is good size.

I've seen it. Quite large. Should do the job.

How did you get it to work? as I can see from the photo, the inlet exit tubes are on the wrong sides.

Ive got it, and there is a thread a few ways down here, that has pics of my isntall. Battery is not relocated, I used a 1/2 size battery, just like CYMFC3S did.

It's one of the biggest radiators you can fit that's made for the car. The downside is the stock battery location has to be moved, period. The top rad hose needs to be replaced, as I think the new K2RD design does not have the down-turn design like stock.

It'll beat the Fluidyne/Koyo/MazdaComp units hands down because of it's superior double-pass design. None of those other units are double-pass design, and it's just a single-pass and not even a crossflow for that matter.
