i think it came out pretty good.. i tried to make the holes tighter, a lot of the ones you can buy cut big holes for no reason.

What's it made of?

MDD0101 05-13-09 02:23 PM

aluminum

solareon 05-13-09 02:25 PM

would you mind taking some measurements. I want to make my own but my card board skills are not the best.

MDD0101 05-13-09 02:30 PM

an easy way to do it is instead of using one piece of carboard..use 2 or 3 or 4..then tape them togethor and stencil it onto the sheet of aluminum. but yea ill see what i can do about the measurements

PvillKnight7 05-13-09 02:33 PM

might want to relocate the air intake....

MDD0101 05-13-09 02:33 PM

sorry ..i thought i posted this in the tech/pics section

MDD0101 05-13-09 02:34 PM

i tried to make sure that air intake wouldnt be a problem and i was told it wouldnt be...next im working on a cold air box

87 t-66 05-13-09 02:34 PM

Yeah, but I pointed out that the airflow for the stock snorkel comes from the sides by the headlights. From your pic, it looks like those areas are completely covered now, since the panel is flush with the lights. You might want to shorten each end by an inch or two to make sure you're not going to choke the engine.

Sweetness..I have a sheet of carbon fiber that I'm gonna use to make one of those. A good material for templates is cardboard used to shim drywall, it's cheap and can be had at most hardware stores.

it fits flush like the corksport one..theirs goes right to the light also. i drove the car all day and it seemed fine...but id like to be safe so ill probly trim it

RX-7tII88 05-13-09 04:08 PM

Yeah, I took a look at the picture corksport has on their site. The difference is what you brought up in your other post: their picture shows a car without the stock snorkel. It'd be an easy change, and it wouldn't hurt the look at all.

MDD0101 05-13-09 07:38 PM

i got a sheet 36 by 24 at home depot for 16$

misterstyx69 05-13-09 09:05 PM

I did the exact same thing..aluminum was 8 bucks.I got enough left over to make another one.
The only regret I have is that I made it with THICK aluminum and it was a real DOGG to cut.I went through Tons of Dremel bits.
But after all was said and Done,I like it and wouldn't change it at all...So GOOD Job, MDD!!

I like your TII, very nice

NYC7 05-13-09 09:39 PM

That thing looks GREAT! now I gotta make one too. What did you use to hold it down?

1SWEET7 05-13-09 10:23 PM

Looks great!

blimp 05-13-09 10:27 PM

lol i gotta post pictures of the i made. Its still in the cardboard wrapped in blue tape, but it will be aluminum or carbon.

SirCygnus 05-13-09 10:33 PM

there is a plastic piece that sits below it. if you look at the hood, there is a rubber piece that seals off this area so air flows from your bumper before the radiator, up, and over the radiator and into the snorkel. its ok. just cut a square piece out.

MDD0101 05-13-09 10:47 PM

i used the stock bolts that hold the snorkel down and a couple stingers

SirCygnus 05-14-09 10:06 AM

but where is the air coming from? nowhere. trick question.

remove the pannel and cut a space for the air to enter into the snorkel.
