just got a TII have some questions....
well just got the newest addition to the family its an 87 TII with an S5 Jspec motor in it i have some questions about the car thats giving me problems...
ONLY when i floor it and the turbo spools up ALOT of blue smoke comes out of my exhaust when i start to slow down i have no idea if my turbo is going out or its the motor (hopefully not) also the car has a bad ground it drains the battery not quickly but it does drain it when i was coming in to my driveway it idles for about 5 sec n just started to die SAFC died first then turbo timer then the car... any USEFUL info would help out alot Thanks TwEaK |
I think if there is oil in the intake after the compressor its the turbo. And I think(AGAIN) if its the engine you will have oil in the exhaust ports/exhaust turbine.

so i should take off the turbo and inspect the exhaust housing and if theres no oil its the turbo thats going bad?

No...I'm pretty sure the turbo can leak oil into either side. If its only happening when the turbo spools, then I'm gonna guess you need a turbo rebuild, or just get a used one in good condition. They aren't that much. Take the turbo off and look for signs of oil in it.

ok ill check that out if there anyone here who could help me out with the grounding issue...

Are you sure that the "bad ground" problem isn't a bad alternator? Try testing the battery contacts while the car is running with a multimeter. You should get about 14 volts if the alt is good.

kk ill do that tommorow well about the blue smoke i just did a compression check on the car have about 85 in the front rotor and about 88 in the rear rotor.. is that good? bad?
i was thinking of doing the ATF trick see if that helps change out the oil, fuel filter, water in radiator (its brown) stuff like that... TwEaK |

TwEaK I would not do the ATF treatment unless a rotor was uneven - like 85-70-70 & 87-87-60. Yours seems pretty healthy. To find a rogue electrical load, connect an ammeter or a light bulb between the battery (-) and the ground clamp. The drain load will light it. Pull fuses, one at a time until you see the light get dim. That circuit is the drain load. |
bad grounding with the S-AFC? I had a similar problem when I installed my S-AFC and AVC-R.

well i have no idea if the previous owner installed the SAFC correctly but he says he did and everything in it seems to work fine he told me he THINKS that the al is going bad so im not exactly shure but i think the cheap way of checking that is disconnecting the battery n see if the alt will keep it running right?

alternator looks like a good thing to look at also.
