Update:

1. bench tested the fuel pump: dead as a doornail and pulling a heavy load
2. the car no longer dies after cranking for a little bit (fuel pump taken out) so it appears it was draining the battery
3. Car has a healty spar on both primary and leaking plugs on the front rotor, checked the rear leading to make sure all is well and it was

so it appears like a new fuel pump is all she needs to sing
