Just changed oil, overfilled by a small amount.
 

I just changed my oil a couple of weeks ago, and overfilled by a very small amount (it's only 1/8th inch from the top fill mark. It's still at the mark 500 miles later and I'm wondering if my OMP is fucked up. It was burning fine before, but now it doesn't seem to be burning any. Could overfilling it caused this problem?

I did the same and it stayed there for 2 weeks. I think the metering is only good for the indented part of the stick. I didn't overfill though, I put in a little less than the manual said it would take.

No, I haven't for a couple of months.

over fill can harm the cats(if you have them)...OMP should be fine..but 1/8th over is VERY minimal..

just floor the accell pedal of the car while driving as much as possible and you will use the oil up.

Remember driving like a granny and shifting at 3k or 4k is just about the worst thing you can do to a rotary engine. Drive it hard and the MOP will inject plenty of oil in.

I do my daily redline at the minimum. :D

I do think my OMP is dirty or something. I did make another thread about cleaning it, but perhaps it could get answered in this one as well. I'm pretty sure those lines are gunked up, so starting today I'm going to dump 8oz. of 2-cycle in there for a saftey measure until I can confirm that everything is ok.

is this a S5??? they tend to be a little more stingy about oil usage.

S4, and it doesn't appear to have used any oil at this point. I know when I first got it there was definatly burn occuring, but leading up to and after my last oil change it doesn't seem that it has burned any more off. :(

well you can check flow by disconnecting the MOP rod at the throttle body, then with the engine running pull it all the way up.

You should see oil flowing through the lines then

It's fine, as long as it's not like more than a quart over the "F".
Overfilling affect the oil pump first - not that big of a deal.
Going too much over than that, it starts to affect the front counterweight which "slaps" the oil - this can be BAD.

my s5 omp is not stingy... it uses oil a lot :) but that's cuz i drive the car like i stole it

On a somewhat related note, I recently changed my oil and also noticed that it hasn't gone down much. But then again, I do drive rather conservatively (except on the on/offramps). I'd just put extra premix in if I were worried (and I do :-P).
