junkyard find rx7
Ok im at work right now and i just took a scap bin next door to the recycling place and i found an almost perfect rx7 looks like a 2+2 model probably about a 90s by guess its straight bodied and the inside i slmost to perfect and original to wanna let get scrapped. I asked the owners of the yard if they coyld save it for me.
I asked for 2 weeks from now what should i offer them for the car? Also im almost sure it has a bad apex seal so probalby why its there. And i dont have pictures atm cause im on the clock but will try to get some during lunch.

Typical pricing is about $50 for a rolling chassis, $300-500 for a non-turbo model that doesn't run, or $500-800 for a Turbo II that doesn't run. RX-7s with automatic transmissions sell for significantly less. Pics would help. The parts are quite often worth more than the whole car, so the salvage yard may take that into account when determining an asking price. How much you want to offer is up to you.

I didnt get pics yet but the dash and engine bay match.
I will do pics tomorrow since its a weekend and i can be more freely to walk from work to next door without getting in trouble.
And they have a title cause they wont buy cars without one and wont sell you one if they didnt. Its a recycle yard slash junkyard so they go by recycling rules.

Yes, low ball them. Move from there based on your comfort zone.

low ball them, but keep it an amount higher than how much they most likely paid for it. like the above poster said, if they paid $200 for it, offer like $400. and if they say it's too low, bring up if they have the tittle and such, and how these cars are old anyways etc. give them a sob story? better to save it by all means than let it go to waste. good luck!

ok guys here are the pictures as promised.
now the body kit they put on it is all messed up but the car its self in my opinion damn near perfect for around Idaho especially in a scrap yard. xD
don't mind the last pictures I was just proud I got 11 tires stacked that day without help. Dangerous but wanted to see if I could do it. xD
I will laugh if I get it for 500 bucks and there was nothing wrong with it but those dreams would never be true and besides a full rebuild and port on this engine would be fun while I drive my little first gen around.

Yeah I have and my assumption for the motor worn out apex seals and lost compression or a blown apex seal. But I won't doubt there being possible water msg maybe?

Sir don't get snippy at me please I've looked over the motor when I had the time just looks like a classic apex seal lost compression and didn't want to even try to get it fixed let sit for a bit and decided smash it. With tons of good parts still in it and no it's turbo they bought a T2 hood and put it on. Cause I thought the same thing. But I myself have seen RX owners come and go rx7 or even rx8s one they lose their motor but this car looks like it got parts but maintained like a piston engine. My opinion and your opinion don't assume I'm ricer kid driving his first rotary engine slamming 8k rams all day all night racing just cause sports car.

Not getting snippy you're asking opinions and I'm telling you we need more info. Still no year or mileage, does it actually have compression, real TII or swap, how hacked is it, body kit is busted, exhaust hanging, how beat is this thing. That's why I'm saying offer them 400 or walk. You say looks like 2+2(not sure how you don't know for sure?)which in my mind tells me it's a swap. Unless I'm wrong in thinking TIIs never had back seats? I could be as I honestly don't know.

When I first posted the thread I had only a glance at it then. when I got the pictures I saw it had back seats so 2+2 engine I know it's not a t2 because I looked at the engine bay. The motor is an N/A.
Why do I assume apex seal first? Because it looks hard driven with 180k miles and parts put into it then gave up on because probably saw the rebuild price tag and lost confidence the car could be redone because they probably don't know enough about cars in general to wanna try his or hers hand at it.
And from what I've learned from my first 2nd gen Mazda is that apex seal can blow if you don't take care of the engine I've seen people selling them with140K miles and say apex seal went out on it.
I see it all the time in Idaho wether it be an rx7 or an rx8 people buy them because they are cool at first then when motor problems throw them away like they are junk and don't realize it could have just been vacuum or as simple as fuel filter even just plain carbon build up.
Short story bought my first gen a month ago had some carbon build up in it was really hard to get it going did the normal stuff got it to red line a few times good as new. The motor was rebuilt once before cause of carbon build up the first 108k miles of granny driving.
