Coat everything coatable!

Some coatings are primarily for show. Others can insulate, shed heat, lubricate, prevent wear, salvage worn components.............Mazda(and other rotary mfgs) used various coatings on the rotary. I think that the T2 rotor faces are teflon coated and that the sides of the housings have gas nitride coatings. Race engines had cermet coating. Some other manufacturers used a molydenum coating. Boinger engine makers are slowly eliminating sleeves on aluminum blocks and using a coating(nikasil/ceramic composite/plasma spray/....) to save weight and eliminate wear.
And there are several rotary engine builders that offer coatings. The reason why it isn't common on the street is that it is very expensive to coat an entire engine(inside and out) with all the available coatings.

Swain technologies is by far my pick. Their reputation in the domestic market preceeds them. My nest project after I find a RX-7 is to build a 383 stroker for my Trans AM. It'll be a weekend /drag car all out, raw, unmitigated straight line acceleration. TO be abole to handle the heat, I'm having them ceramic coat my heads, pistons, everything. Its gonna be supercharged and use NOS. Hoping to see 700+ RWHP. Go with Swain, they are the best.
