Cat Delete Options
Hello All,
I have been going over some things on the RX7 I recently purchased (91 NA Auto Vert) and one of the things that is next on my list is fixing the exhaust. One of the cats is currently leaking. With that said emissions are not a thing for this car so I would love to just remove the cats. I read somewhere that without the cats the car is insanely loud and that I should atleast have some sort of presilencer.
With that said I am curious is it something a local mom and pop exhaust shop could rig up or am I better off buying a premade pipe?
So far the only thing I have found that remotely fits this is this from RB which is almost $550 after shipping and tax which doesn't feel reasonable for a simple cat delete solution. https://www.racingbeat.com/RX7-1986-...ml?id=iNMsyhcP
Found this one which is more reasonable around $300 but they only for FB. RX7.COM | 1979-1985 Rx7 Exhaust (330)7-ROTARY
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

I would recommend going with an aftermarket cat. Without a cat the exhaust fumes are very noxious. I would recommend the RB down pipe https://www.racingbeat.com/RX7-1986-...rs/s16209.html), RB cat-back exhaust (https://www.racingbeat.com/RX7-1986-...sts/16418.html) and Rx7.com Bönez Cat for use with Racing Beat Street Header EX800655. This is basically what I'm running on my S5 coupe. With the S5 AT vert, your choices are limited before the cat-back. In any event, it's going to cost you. Alternatively, you could always visit a custom muffler shop and see what they'll offer you.

I have been very happy with the Bonez single cat system with pre-silencer.
The Bonez cat is at the last cat position. . .The pre-silencer gets it first.

I wish I could get that pipe from rx7.com you just posted, but it is manual only. I dont know why that would make a different by the cats, but I guess it does?
