jdm s5 t2 no idle

1991 RX7 jdm 91 s5 swap w/basic rebuild
NA transmission with ACT HD clutch kit

so i did the swap and am using s5 t2 N370, ecu, pressure sensor, tps and wiring harness. i also have a walbaro 255 wired to the battery, corksport TID, and apexi twin chamber bov.

my problem is that it wont idle ... if i mess with the tb n open it up to let air in, then i give it gas n bring the rev up to 4k it will idle at 4500 then sometimes 5500 then it will sometimes just keep going up on its own then if i stab the throttle itll settle bck to 4500 sometimes it stays there and sometimes itll just idle down to 4k anything under 4k itll just stall.

so i set the TB back n checked for vac leaks cudnt find any and unplugged the TPS to see if that was the probably and nothing capped off the bov and still no idle

if the bac valve was bad wud it cause a NO idle situation or am i just missing a HUGEEE vac leak?

i have a boost gauge but not installed would installing it now help out ? with the vac readings?

this is my 1st time doing the swap and im doing it for the experience instead of buying a t2, im here to learn any help would be great

Is there tension on the accelerator cable?

Rickyyp 09-12-11 07:53 AM

what u mean ? its tightened in to the TB like if i press my finger on the cable where it goes to the tb theres very very little slack almost none

PvillKnight7 09-12-11 08:42 AM

Try starting the car with the cable disconnected from the TB. Maybe it's too tight and it's holding the throttle open. I think there is supposed to be 1" of accelerator pedal travel before the cable moves the throttle plate.

oh yea i tryed that before i unplugged the tps that didnt do anything just stalls after i start the car

PvillKnight7 09-12-11 09:46 AM

Good thinking. Is the AFM plugged in? :D

Rickyyp 09-12-11 11:29 AM

lol yea everything is plugged in

how did you test for vacuum leaks? double check the CAS timing also. make sure the injector connectors are in ok condition and that the engine is grounded ok with the negative battery cable. lastly be sure the leading and trailing plug wires aren't reversed.

same issue my car is currently having, the motor will not idle @ anything lower then 4k rpms

please update this thread when you solve this, I'm excited to know too

Rickyyp 09-15-11 05:39 PM

i unplugged the AFM n now it idles somewhat bounces around alot through the rpm ranges 1k-3k will check timing n i just visually checked n re did evvvveerrything n okay thanks ill try all that

keep in mind also that the fuel lines are reversed on that rats nest from the original USDM setup. so where you attach the fuel lines to the actual engine from the chassis, are flip flopped. you can get it to run when reversed, but it won't run right if at all. and be sure the brake booster is attached, it is the steel line off of the LIM towards the firewall, it's in a different location than the USDM TII and n/a brake booster hose connection and might be overlooked, which will cause a massive vacuum leak and no idle condition.

Rickyyp 09-16-11 05:51 AM

yeaa i got the fuel lines in ok n checked the flloww ill re check just to be safe i got the brake booster and for the AFM can i use a diff one that will work with my car besides the n370 ? cant find one mine is shot

RotaryEvolution 09-16-11 03:41 PM

nope, n370 is the only AFM that is calibrated for the S5 TII. could possibly adapt an S4 n318 to work but that is a step backwards.
