Japan model and USA model differences (exhaust)

I wanted to buy a catback for my 88 RX-7 N/A, i came along this:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...080338401&rd=1

i asked them if it would fit mine, they said they were unsure of it and told me to ask a forum.

So are there any differences in the exhaust set up that would make a catback from a Japan model not fit my North American model?

thanks

just for that section i'm going to say no difference.

downpipe are another story since the steering gear is on the same side as the exhaust.

It doesn't fit.
All FC's in Japan were turbos, so if you own a Turbo II in the US, then you'd be okay.
You can get the exhaust to fit if you're willing to do a custom job just to make everything fit; you cannot expect to unbolt your exhaust and to have that slip right in.

it has small piping and it looks like the flange goes down to the small one. i'd put my money on it bolting up or coming close.

You can pull an Apexi N1 single exit off of a turbo and bolt it directly onto the the n/a without problem. Same for the N1 dual, GReddy PE and old school HKS.

Will this system fit? I dunno, never used Blitz before but from past experience my guess is that it would. But like Ted said, you cannot expect to unbolt your exhaust and bolt this one right one.

Cat-back? Yes.
The pic doesn't look like a cat-back?

I did mean cat-back.

The picture shows the main hangar in about the same spot it would be on the Y pipe. Looks to me like a cat back.

From the auction description:

JHOT Japanese Imports of Augusta has up for auction a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) Tail Pipe from a Mazda RX-7 with a FC3S chassis. This Blitz Catback exhaust comes with only the pieces shown.
Not to say you should rely on their description though I have bought from them in the past and they've been great.

I bought an earlier exhaust like this one from J-Hot for my son's '88 GXL and it works great. The only difference appears to be that the one I bought exits on the passenger side rather than the driver's side. All the mounts and positions lined up for me with no problems. Let me know and I"ll shoot pictures if it'll help. I originally bought it thinking I'd modify it (it was really cheap!!!), but the only problem I had was forgetting to buy a new gasket.

I bought Tein HA's, fenders, and quite a few odds and ends from J-Hot and have always been happy with their service and the condition of the parts.
