Iwant to pull all the cats on my non turbo 88gxl.

I want to remove the cats ,but i was told by a friend that there is a backpressure line that needs to be plugged or added into the straight exhaust in order for the car to run right. I plan on leaving the mufflers on, at this time . thanks , in advance , for any input. i won't be online ,this morning for long ,gotta go .

In an '88 your fifth and sixth port actuators are operated off of exhaust backpressure. So it's highly possible that if you did that your ports wouldn't function properly.

The simplest solution is to just wire them open if you want more top end power, but you'll lose a little down low.

thanks , mykl . i may do that .

Actually, if you wanted, Racing Beat sells a piece that replaces the cats, and still has the pressure sensor line for the ports! I think it's his resonator (funny, just mentioned that in another post). It's a great piece. Looking at their catalog, it's their "Non-Turbo Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe with Presilence".

kanaida,I might consider buying the pipe , with the line built in, or just wiring the ports open ,as mykl said. i have been checking out different systems , but i know that those old cats are going away soon.

Yeah, the pipe is definently phatty. Give Racing Beat a call and ask them for a price. It doesn't list prices in my catelog. Or you could check the website. I think they have prices there too. AND! You could also go through rx7store.net - They're official distributor of RB products.
