ive got all the problems

ok so i bought this car. 90 rx-7 convertible. i thought got a good deal on it till i got it home. i

the dealer said it ran last winter and now it doesnt. he said he did something with the spark plug wires and now it wont start. i looked and noticed he had the cables all backwards. i thought, "simple, put the plugs where they belong." no luck. i replaced plugs. it started and quit after a few seconds. put fuel injector cleaner and a gallon of 87 octane gas in it. then by the glory of god, it ran. then i had the white cloud of smoke come out of the back. after about 5 mins the smoke cleared. all is good. then i notice the oil pressure gauge hasnt moved. so i shut the car off. let it sit for a few mins and tried it again. it cranked but didnt start. i tried differnt things on the message boards to stop the dreaded flooding problem. i did the thing where you remove the egi and airbag fuses and try to start it. i got it to start one last time. i figured all is well. but the needle on the oil pressure guage didnt move. i figured i would try to drive the car around the block. i put it into reverse and it stalled. i tried to crank it again and it turned over but didnt fire. i went and consulted the haynes manual and went out to try a few things. i turn the key and i get nothing. i think with all the trying to get it started i may have burned up the starter. if you can help with any of my problems i would be the happiest of the happy.

You may have knocked the oil sender unit wire off, its not hard to do. Its located by the T2 plug, it looks like a saucer.

And the next time you get it started, let it run for a while till it gets warm. And change your plugs.

Once you flood the car again, you have basically ruined that set of plugs.

why did it stall when i put it into gear?

Rotary engines have very little low rev torque.
Almost half of all those hoses, pipes, & solenoids on the motor are for idle control. If one isn't working, it's easy to stall.
You may have to peddle the throttle until you can sort it out.

Looks like the engine keeps flooding probably from low compression or maybe leaking injectors.

For now, I would raise the idle and drive it around for a while and then set idle, tps, etc (basically, a good ole tune-up) afterwards.

To raise the idle, you can just turn that little screw (8mm) on top of dynamic chamber which acts on the throttle plates. That should prevent the stalling.

Then,
you may want to download fuel and emissions chapter from FSM on sureshot's site, that will keep you busy for a while.

For the starter, don't crank for more than 10s at a time. Give it a whack though before calling it quits.

thanks for all the help fellas. i raised my idle and it would move! XD Then i decided to take it around the block and when i got to the end of the driveway i turned on my headlights and my left turn signal. the car stalled. grrrr

ok nevermind that last thing. i drove it around the block twice. the engine runs flawlessly when it finally starts. but i still have a problem starting. i have to turn the key and floor the gas. sometimes it starts. i cant figure it out cause when its is running it runs perfectly. grrr again

flooring the gas cuts off the fuel completely during cranking. Your basically unflooding it. It sounds like you have low compression...get a compression test done at a local rotary place (or mazda since they have the special tester)
