Intrax Springs- anyone have experience?

Hey, i was wondering, if anyone had experience with the lowering springs for our cars.....Intrax springs. They are pretty cheap! and they sound really good.

Ride changes? Thanks

Evan

I have them on my TII. With 17" rims they look perfect!..The drop is nice...ride is OK.

Ryde _Or_Die 09-11-02 08:21 AM

I heard they were too soft, but I guess some people will like that. They make our cars the lowest that I've seen. HKS did make a set that lowered the car 1.5" but can't find them now.

E6KT2 09-11-02 09:27 AM

They are too soft. The drop is minimal. I'm getting GC coilovers in a minute or two. You will need new shocks anyway.

MtnRacer 09-11-02 09:50 AM

Agreed. I had them on my TII. Too much body roll, really crap springs IMHO. Also, my front always sat a little lower than the back, did anyone else have that problem with Intrax? If all you want is your car lowered, then these springs are probably ok for you. They do make the car ride pretty low. But if you expect some performance bang for your buck, stay away.

I think I might get these but need to see how much they lower the car.

I think those are the same ones that RX7FC3S has on his car. I think it's lowered about 1.5 - 2 inches from stock, but I'm not sure. His car looks to be at the perfect height for all types of driving.

Are you referring to the Intrax or HKS ones I posted?

DC350 09-11-02 05:23 PM

those springs are too soft? are they better then stock springs? LIke more or less body roll with those springs?

13bpower 09-11-02 05:38 PM

I have the intrax spring on my car. The specs say 1.6 inchs lower than stock. On a 10-15 year old car it only sits about 1 inch lower because the stock springs are so shot. Great if you just want to lower your car. Ive never had any problems with them.

DC350 09-11-02 05:41 PM

but they dont make the handling worse do they

superpimp35 09-11-02 10:19 PM

INTRAX SUCK buy gc coilovers or eibach pro kit springs.....best two ive ridden on so far

von 09-12-02 12:00 AM

BUT the softer the better for launching right? More squat in the back

DC350 09-12-02 12:49 AM

come on guys, do they make the body roll worse or better then stock?

FC3S Drift 09-12-02 12:54 AM

since we're sorta on the topic of suspension.........can someone tell me what coilovers do to your car? and will you need new shocks and struts still or what? thanks alot

Rotorific 09-12-02 01:07 AM

From what i hear racing beat is about as good as it gets for us 2nd genners they are a 1 inch drop about the same as all springs and they are linear rate that is for racing and dragging hks has some nice springs but they are progressive as is eibach so im not down with them but they are good springs no doubt

Huh?!? Your kidding right?

von 09-12-02 10:19 AM

why would I be kidding? Is this a retorical ? or something? If your suspension is softer its going to squat when you launch putting more weight to the back tires. Please prove me wrong smarty pants.

MtnRacer 09-12-02 11:04 AM

DC350,
Not worse, I'd say, but not really much better. You always, always, ALWAYS get what you pay for with these things. The springs WILL lower your COG, but they give the car a sloppy handling feel. Not desirable. Hope this helps!

I'm glad I didn't get Intrax springs...I don't like too soft of a ride.

I wasn't trying to be a smartass or anything. Well what do you think will happen between shifts? The car will bounce, losing time. Do you see drag cars bouncing around the track?

MtnRacer 09-12-02 01:37 PM

btw, with these springs, and 17s, my car rubbed REALLY bad on the mountains. I mean really REALLY bad. even with rolled fenders. Another thing I didn't like about 'em. I'm beginning to wonder why I even left them on in the first place. =P

What size tires did you have on? I have been wondering how much I'd want to lower my if I ran 225/45/17s all around. The intrax are supposed to lower the car 1.75". That means I'd want like 1.25-1.5".

DC350 09-13-02 02:02 AM

so what kind of springs do you reccomend? I was thinkin suspension Technique?

MtnRacer 09-13-02 02:44 AM

I was running 215/45/17 Dunlops. What kind of springs you want depend on how much dough you wanna spend. But for budget racing, you usually can't go wrong with Racing Beat. They make great stuff.
